  1. Last year I tried Thai food for the first time ever, and since I was living in Union at the time, what better place to try it than Morris Thai? My friend and I went on a random Wednesday night and we ordered a plate of Pad Thai and Drunken Noodles which we shared. It was SO GOOD. I have been a fan of Thai food since then, but Morris Thai made my first experience a hit (not a miss)!

  2. I've come here a few times and food has been pretty good. I normally do the pad Thai . Inside is old fashioned but seems authentic and clean. Prices are decent. Parking is street parking. Worth giving it a try if u like Thai and want something local. No alcohol served

  3. I'm so glad that Union has an authentic Thai restaurant. Noodlefan on Stuyvesant was really the only other Thai option nearby for lunch today — I wasn't in the mood for the typical BBQ, pizza, or sandwich places.

Complementary Salad (A): I should've just ordered a salad for lunch because their peanut sauce dressing is so good! It's just an ordinary side salad (mix greens, tomato wedge, etc.) but it's a break from the typical balsamic vinaigrette, ranch, or bleu cheese. I'm thinking it's the same sauce they use for the satay.

Kaw Soy/Khao Soi (A-) ($9.95): This dish was a surprise to me, primarily because the Khao Soi I've tried was the Lao version with ground pork in a tomato based broth. The Northern Thai version is yellow curry topped with a nest of crispy egg noodles that is then topped with sliced chicken that was cooked in the same yellow curry, cilantro, and crispy fried shallots. It is supposed to be spicy, but it was quite mild for me. In addition, I would've liked to see a little more curry — the crispy egg noodles sucked up the yellow curry quickly, so if you don't stir the dish around, the noodles won't get soft enough.

Service (A): The younger waiter was the one who sat my table but it was the owner who took our order. He's really friendly and nice to talk to. But really, everyone who works here is friendly. Everyone kept checking up on my table to make sure we had everything we needed.

Long story short, this is solid authentic Thai  food in Union. As is the case with many other Thai restaurants, the outside might not be appealing but the inside is nicely set up.

*Important: Parking is terrible. There's one lot with around ten spots max; there's side street parking but it's almost always packed. I was lucky to get a spot in the lot, but if none are available, your best bet is to park on the side of the road.

  4. I'd been craving Thai food for a while and decided to go to Morris Thai on a Wednesday night with my boyfriend.  I was cold and ordered the Jasmine tea (I was surprised that it was a tea bag and not loose leaf tea as another reviewer mentioned).  As an appetizer we ordered the spring rolls, which were right out of the fryer and were piping hot.

I ordered the chicken pad thai.  The chicken tasted kind of gamey as though it were left over.  I've had better flavor at other Thai places.  My boyfriend ordered the pork fried rice and wasn't too impressed either.  The service was good, but I think I'll satiate my future Thai cravings elsewhere.

  5. The spring rolls are probably frozen and the cashew/corn dish was bland. I've gotten other things when I first moved to the area, but don't remember. Overall, not that great and I wouldn't order from there again.

  6. They updated their menu and food is still delicious.  Nicer place for a Thai restaurant and it's BYO!

  7. In my group of friends there's always been some major hype for Morris Thai. Finally made my way there on a Tuesday afternoon for lunch!

Ordered a vegetarian green curry and the vegetarian Pad Thai from their lunch menu. Came with a little starter salad with some delicious ginger dressing.

Pad Thai was good. Fresh ingredients and flavor was on point. Green Curry was spicy, but lacked a pow in flavor. Overall, food was good and service was attentive. 3.5 rating but decided to round up for the good service.

Also – we didn't ask for any specific level of spicyness and the green curry was too hot for my sister. She ordered 2 Thai iced teas to mute out the spicyness while I laughed in her face for being a wimp lol.

But their Thai iced tea? Banging.
Probably the best I've had in Jersey!

  8. I've never been to Thailand but this place really motivates me to go. I've been a patron for over a decade and love coming here with my family. Friendly, excellent service. Their space is pretty simple overall but has walls that bang with stunning, rich tapestries of elephants and other figures.

Their dishes are well-balanced in flavor and super tasty. My 3 standbys are: the Pad Thai with shrimp, Tom Kha Talay, and Sticky Rice with Mango. I always use Pad Thai with shrimp (optional) to test Thai restaurants and this place has the most-balanced version in my experiences across the nation, especially with a sprinkle of lime they provide. Their Tom Kha Talay (seafood with mushroom, galingale (ginger), lemongrass, in coconut milk and lemon juice broth) is lip-smackin' good.  Then, their Sticky Rice with Mango (sweet rice with smooth, tender mango slices) is just heavenly.

I also enjoy their Catfish Pad Phed (crispy catfish fillet "nuggets" with red curry paste, coconut milk, basil, and bamboo shoots) as well as the Pad See Ewe (sauteed flat noodle with your choice of meat- i usually get beef, egg, and broccoli). They're both so comforting and Thailicious!
