You're Mortons. You're a "steakhouse". Every answer to "what should I get" is "the steak". No surprise there.
The surprise is that the 2 filets we ordered medium rare (and were told would have a "warm red center" came Medium Well and pretty darn close to well-done.
I seriously have no clue how you can f* that it up that bad.
Anyway, 5 of us dropped over $1000 here. I wasn't surprised about the shell bits in the oysters or the oysters that weren't properly cut out of their shell. My salad was just fine and the onion bread was OK. The sides were pretty good, just like they always are. No fresh whole lobsters were available and there was the usual very good wine that was not surprisingly quite expensive. Service was friendly but not "professional" quality. The sommelier was I think really just the night manager or something, and his wine pouring skills left something to be desired (i.e. wine dripping down the side of the bottle, splattering the white tablecloth, not filling the glasses equally or sharing them out properly. They also didn't do the grand show of raw meat and seafood brought to your table that you could order like I've seen in the past.
But the steaks, really? We only ordered 2 steaks between the 5 of us (the rest of us had seafood).
Just get the cook on the steaks right, that's all anybody expects. For $48 bucks per steak, you've got to do better.

So the manager did follow-up via text but since I was there on business and no longer in NYC not much they can do but say sorry I suppose. But thanks for reaching out.
This is a chain but its pretty good.
I came here for the $1 sliders. Omg, those were good.
I came back again for the burger, which was good.
I need to come back here for a real piece of steak.
Thank you Morton's for a fantastic birthday dinner! Everyone (especially our waitress, Brittany) we came across was so thoughtful and gracious. Everything was delicious- and for a steak place, they make amazing an awesome spinach and mushroom side.
I came here for a party, I mean it's a steakhouse so you have to order steak, anything other than that can be questionable. One of the options on the menu was salmon with string beans. The salmon was a bit dry for my palette. The decor is really nice and it should be for such a high end place. They have a downstairs so don't be surprised if they send you there.
Oh Mortons. I have been going to your restaurant since I was about ten, and this last time, I was pretty disappointed. It has sadly turned into another chain restaurant.
The food is always great, but there is nothing really spectacular about this steak house vs. any other. I come here because, in the past, the service had been impeccable. This time, however, was a very different story. I arrived with a party of 2 for my guests birthday. We were greeted excitedly by the host and were seated in the lower level upon our arrival, 30 minutes before our scheduled reservation. We had just celebrated the night before, so we were not getting alcohol. But as the meal went on, we began to notice our table was a bit neglected. The manager of the night was talking to every other table multiple times buy only briefly stopped at ours to ask us the single question of how everything was. We noticed (coincidence or not) that every other table got much more attention.
Our waiter was nothing great either – the person who fills up water spoke with us more than our waiter and the manager combined. I think I will take this off my list of places to go to since there are so many other places with just as good (if not better) food with better service.
Yum yum. Service was good and steak delicious. I had the mixed grills with 6 oz filet, 3 shrimps and bacon wrapped scallops. The bacon could have been crispier but otherwise everything was delicious. I was super happy my steak came out at the correct temperature. I don't normally like filet because of its powdery texture but this one was amazing. Beware of the bread. You won't be able to stop.
So delicious..lives up to its rep. We came here for a friend's birthday dinner and had a great evening. Morton's staff was attentive and created custom menus for the birthday boy as souvenirs. They also went above and beyond and created a Morton's birthday card with a photo of the group to take home, as well as providing a complimentary dessert. Great experience here – not even talking about the food yet.
The garlic bread was amazingly fluffy – would order this any time. I ordered the mixed grill for my entree and was very pleased with my 6 oz filet, bacon wrapped scallops and grilled shrimp. All the meats were tender and perfectly cooked, and more than enough to fill me up. We also all shared sides of creamed corn and brussel sprouts, which were also the best I've had. For drinks, we ordered a chianti that was out of this world.
Definitely one of the pricier meals I've had, but so worth it for a special occasion.
My review is solely based on Morton's happy hour during midweek which is pretty decent. This is the only Morton's location that offers food and cocktails on their bar menu. We ordered the crab cakes (4), salad wedge with blue cheese, trio of filet mignon sliders (excellent) and the truffle parmesian fries. Appetizers were served well temperatured and tasted well with our cocktails ($7 vs $12) and glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon. We capped the night off with the lava cake ala mode and a Jameson milkshake. Not an over indulgence in our eyes.
The bar area on the first floor has a lounge setting versus the sub-level of the restaurant which is larger with multiple tables and banquet seating. It's bright in color yet has dimmed lighting to set a nice mood. The service is attentive and the after hours vibe is professional yet not stuffy. I will be back again and maybe dine this time around.
