  1. Some of the best "kosher" falafels I've had to date, Moshe's seems to be taking their food truck to all parts of Manhattan. It's been awhile since I last saw this truck at 17th and I'm sincerely hoping they'll be around a lot more often..

The allure of the falafel starts with the aroma, which for street side admirers is a real treat. A hint of chickpeas and tahini sauce is enough to make non-hungry people curious and people like me who instantly in a better mood post consumption. Each of the falafels, are a light golden brown. They're light and deceivingly good. At $5 for 4 pieces, it feels a bit pricey, but they do have a pretty unique version of one of my favorite foods.

The guys who run the truck are super nice. Usually cooked and operated by Hispanic guys and supervised by Rabbi Pinchas Horowitz, the food is prepped well. If you're not having the falafel on it's own, the falafel sandwich is another good bet. A pita that stuffed with veggies, tahini sauce, and falafel is one of life's great (and healthy) pleasures.

When Moshe's is back in the Flatiron, is when I'll be back. To the folks running this truck, I have one word: Twitter.

  2. These guys are bit off the beaten path for me at work but they're the best in the area when I get a hankering for falafel. For the uninitiated, falafel is nothing more than deep fried chickpea mixture with spices.  But who are we kidding, what's not to like about deep fried anything!  Moshe's truck manages to create these perfectly golden brown, crunch, and fluffy delights.  The sandwiches are filling in of themselves and quite affordable.  I hear the lines can get pretty long during the lunch hour but I always take late lunches so service is fast.

  3. I was running back to work after an appointment when I came across Moshe's.  Since I was on my lunch break, I figured it made sense to grab something quick to eat.  The irony is, I didn't get a falafel since I wanted to eat light that day.  Instead, I snagged a white tuna on pita with salad.  I found $6.50 a tad steep for this kind of sandwich but I was in a rush so I shrugged it off in true NYC fashion.

When I got back to my office, I unwrapped the pita and saw that this thing was *gigantic*.  Easily about twice the size of what I would have gotten at a nearby deli.  I dug inside of it and found they had layered the tuna on thick with a ton of veggies and three pickles to boot!  Everything tasted super fresh, and the tuna didn't taste like it had been sitting out for hours and hours.  The pickles were sweet and light.  Overall, this was one delicious (and super filling) pita sammich!

Service was quick and with a smile.  The crew works effortlessly inside the truck.  It amazes me how quickly the move back and forth without crashing into each other or some piece of equipment.

I hope to run into this truck again one day and try some of their other offerings – maybe even the fried falafel!
