I'll reserve the fifth star for when I try the food. I dig Mother's vibe. The interior manages to balance both clean lines and lived-in, something that often translates as rundown; however, Mother's open door called me in from Graham as I searched for a coffee shop and wifi. I wasn't looking for a pub or bar or pie place (Mother's manages to be all 4 at once) but the dining area and side bar looked chill enough for me to get some work done, and hip enough I wouldn't feel like a loser for being alone. Since this was between meal times, I only ordered the cider on tap, which cost $6.
Was in the mood for a burger one night and this was close by. We ordered the angus burger, but I'm sure they gave us the bison burger. It was a decent burger, not terrible bad and it hit the spot for the moment. However, no desire to really go back for the burger.
I don't go to Mother's very often – when I checked in on a recent Sunday night I was surprised to hear that my last visit was in 2012 – but when I come it's for the comforting, simple burger. Mother's has a particular type of burger, one where the juices gush out of a pretty thin bun that hits the spot on a certain nights.
On a block where some options are too fussy (Mesa Cocoyan) and others remnants from a grungier era (El Loco) Mother's pleasant atmosphere and decor strike me as just right.
I came for what was just supposed a burger but turned into two glasses of rosé. It was the end of the long Labor Day weekend and the unofficial end of summer. Hopefully I'll back before it's safe to drink that pink wine here again.
This place is getting 5 stars strictly for the amazing burger I had. I tried the Bison Meat Burger with Cheddar/L&T. Delicious!!!! The perfect consistency and flavor. I loved the soft sesame bun too, yum!
They have some great beers on tap. I had a few "A Little Sumpin' Sumpin' Ale" by Lagunitas Brewing Company. Really great, highly recommend.
The atmosphere is casual, comfy yet still chic enough for a date night. The service was decent sitting at the bar.
A right on top of the train station as you get out at Graham. If Daddy's is a bit too far away (or closed as it was on the 4th) Mother's can surely be your backup plan.
Your basic bar, with a badass selection of brews on tap, and full bar besides. You'll also find they have a backyard if you'd rather skip the AC and enjoy a bit of the summer humidity!
Really enjoyed the burger here. Excellent quality meat that was cooked to my request. It's served with pickles and tomatoes- I could do without the lettuce, it's messy. It also has a tasty sauce. Didn't love the cole slaw- it needed salt. Good key
lime pie for dessert and sweet waitress at the bar. I'd come back again.
Came here for a late breakfast/lunch/brunch with a date. We noticed the chalkboard outside that had an amazing deal for a burger, side, and half pint of beer for $10-12. AWESOME DEAL! They also have a humble yet great selection of draft craft beers. As expected in Greenpoint *thumbs up*
The bartender/waiter quickly gave us our drinks, water, & took our order; and in about 15 minutes or so the food was out–and boy was the burger juicy. The portions are decent and they give you a ton of fries with an interesting sauce they give you to tip it in. I also asked for hot sauce and got this interesting smaller local brand that was delicious (wish I remembered the name).
Overall great hole in the wall discovery and I was pleased with everything they had to offer.
Meeeeh, went there twice. I think the food is kind of gross. For me, it's more a place to have a beer with your friends before having a real diner some where else. will come back but only for drinks.
