Ms. Lin's was actually a PLEASANT surprise we stumbled upon the other night when wanting to try something new for dinner. It's not become a possible go-to for the area for us.
We'd checked the review on Yelp out, and decided to give it a WHIRL. We were not let down at all…
My wife got the h and sour soup, which was fantastic. It was the right consistency and tasted awesome. A nice kick, followed by a nice sour yet sweet after taste. Delicious.
I got the beef lo mein, which was great. Noodles were fresh, tasty, and mixed perfectly with the beef, scallions, and onions. Hot and a great quantity at the large size.
My wife got the pork version in small, and that was also really good with the same results.
We did delivery, and it came relatively quickly (under the 45 minutes they told us). They're in Chatham and we live in Summit, so 30 minutes to make all the food and get it to us after dinner was pretty good.
Ms. Lin's is definitely a great place to hit your ethnic vibes and get a good dish!
I've ordered from this place a gazillion times but went into the place for the first time last night. Clean, family friendly and decent service. The food is very American-Chinese but that's not such a bad thing. I sometimes get this mad craving for boneless pork ribs (with that totally processed duck sauce) and nothing else will quite satisfy like a nice big order. Just like a Big Mac attack, from time to time. You know what I mean?
When we do delivery, they are the fastest I've ever seen, which is very convenient. But the last time we had delivery, it was a bad experience. When the guy showed up, I realized I didn't have enough money to give a proper tip. I only had 2 bucks extra. I asked if he could take a credit card instead so I could leave a decent tip. He said no. So, I gave him the 2 bucks and said I'll take care of him the next time, since we order there so much. Well, he got pissy and threw the tip back to me and walked away. Not being the most patient or PC kind of guy, I was pretty insulted and started to yell at him, calling him an idiot and a few other things.
I immediately called the restaurant and told the owner what happened. He told me that he was going to fire the guy. Well, I didn't want that, just a dressing down and a free egg roll next time would have done it.
Not sure if the guy was actually fired but I haven't seen him back since. Hmmmm…..
We usually get take-out from Ms. Lin, but have eaten in as well. The food and service are great, and even the people who answer the phone for take-out are spot-on, efficient, and really know the menu and can answer any questions. My favorite is the crispy duck, but I also like the house special fish, although its sauce is sometimes a bit too sweet and syrupy.
If you're coming in from the city for a show at Paper Mill, this place provides a great pre-theater lunch or dinner. Stellar chicken fried rice at low prices. OR grab takeout and eat in the lovely park across the way!
