Mullanes Bar & Grill

“But even if sports isn't your thing, it's still a lot of fun, just don't go when a big game is on.”

“We were headed to the Cher concert at the Barclays Center and we looked up top ten places next to the Barclay Center to have a quick bite.”

“We happened to go on the second night of the Olympics; one would expect to see nothing but curling and bobsledding on every TV right?”

  1. I'm not quite sure why it's taken me so long to review this place. Mullanes is definitely my favorite place to frequent in the Fort Greene area. It's a great place to watch a game, grab some drinks, or simply have a nice dinner.

There is outdoor seating in the front as well as along the side. The food is delicious and consistent. Even though my boyfriend was super disappointed that they recently removed the fried clam strips from their menu. They have a small lunch special menu as well as happy hour specials. The service is attentive and always comes with a smile. I definitely recommend this place to anyone!

  2. Everyone raves about the burgers here but they're not impressive. In fact the food is just okay and so is the service.

  3. Unfortunately, nothing really stood out to me at Mullanes…in a word, underwhelming. I think this place really has the potential to be someone's local sports bar and watering hole. Lots of beers on tap, lots of space at the bar, and plenty of table tops (with more room in the back I think) The bartender was nice enough and attentive enough, except for when we actually needed him (for more drinks and/or our tab). Food was decent – fries with chili and their soup…but again underwhelming. Would i come back? Maybe as a last resort, but there are certainly other bars/restaurants around the area that can help liven up your night out.

  4. I've been here so many times and am finally coming around to writing this review. This place is always busy, but there was never a time where my fiancé and I had to wait for an open table. They have outdoor seating with umbrellas, which is nice during a hot sunny day. But they have air conditioning and I never pass that up. So we always stay inside. I've had the BAM burger, which was amazing. The meat was cooked to my liking and the fries were crispy. I've also ordered their nachos with chili and buffalo wings. This place does not disappoint. They also have happy hour – as all bars should! They've got lots of tv screens where there's always a game playing – be it baseball, American football, football, tennis, etc. If you're in the area, I recommend you come and visit this place, grab a few drinks, eat some appetizers and go on about your day.

  5. I went to dinner with a group here (after walking by it at least four times a day for the past year!) on Monday night and found the overall experience to be very enjoyable.

    Pros:
-awesome outdoor sidewalk dining–good place to see and be seen in Fort Greene, also can bring your pup to eat with you outside
-easily located near the G train and a short walk to Barclay's
-large indoor bar and dining area–good for groups (accepts reservations)
-happy hour is 3-7 pm weekdays includes $6 beers and shots, $5 house wines,  and a free buffet (small but can't beat free food!)
-great place to watch sports games or relax with a drink
-service was prompt and polite throughout
-they have lunch, brunch and dinner menus
-burgers and shepherds pie were top notch!  myself and one other had mac and cheese which was good but not as good as the other meals (needed a little more sharp cheese i think!).  Prices were good, $10-20 for most meals and they were good sized.  Pub food but a level above

    Cons…not many to mention:
-might not be the most kid-friendly spot as it can be more of a drinking crowd at times (might not be for everyone)

Would suggest you check it out!

  6. I've come here time and time again over the years. Mullanes is a borderline see-and-be-scene hotspot during summer weekends for the Ft. Greene/Clinton Hill/Bed-Stuy set, which might seem unusual for a place that is essentially a bar. But this place benefits from being in the perfect location at the crossroads of Fulton and Lafeyette, a popular thoroughfare for bars, restaurants and (mild) nightlife.

Best bets for food: The BAM Burger and Fort Greene Burger are winners, and the fettuccini is pretty good as well. A lot of people rave about the mac 'n' cheese, but I was rather underwhelmed when I tried it. Stick with a burger and beer or cocktail.

  7. A great spot for a bite and drink! I had the fish and chips, which were pretty amazing, and my roommate had the burger. She griped a bit about it not being the best burger, but for one thing she's picky as hell and two the service made up for shortcomings they might have had.
Our server JT was super nice and genuine (not usually a word you associate in the service industry).
Anyways, I got ditched by said roommate and just ended up hanging out at the bar over a drink chatting with the staff. Yeah, that's weird huh? They're that welcoming and friendly. Go check em out. And don't skip dessert!

  8. Found this restaurant yesterday on our way from the parking garage to the Barclay's Center.

    What a find!!!!!!!

We had one hour to grab a quick bite before the concert and this restaurant made it happen. We were seated immediately, the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Our waitress was awesome. Got our cocktails on the table in less than 5 minutes from the time we were seated.

My husband ordered a burger and I ordered the crab cakes. Both were delicious. I will definitely come back here when we have more time to hang. I'm curious about the rest of the menu. This place did not disappoint.
