  1. So far so good!

Everyone says this place is very authentic but the Mumbai Sandwich I've had always had more in it. It was good though, little spicy and delicious with the ketchup.
The Samosa Chaat was also delicious but not as good as some places in Jackson Heights, NY.

I can't wait to go back and try the Dosa's!

  2. Mumbai grill sandwich, it was really good, huge portion, very filling and flavorful. The mixed platter of pakoras were fried fresh and tasted good.  The aloo paratha was huge-came out steaming hot as well.  The tokri chaat looked interesting but lacked flavor, our favorite chaat is still at usha but the other snacks here are fresh and taste good as well.

  3. I've been here twice so far, and both times, I thought the food was very good. The restaurant is family owned, and the owners seem to be working hard in the kitchen and waiting on the customers.

The majority of dishes are very good and taste very authentic. The Samosa Chaat is my favorite here and the Tokri Chaat is a close second. I also liked their Pav Bhaji.

I tried a lot of different dishes here, and there was only like one or two that I didn't care for (like the samosas).

Their prices are also very reasonable.

If you like South Indian food, I definitely recommend you visit Mumbai Xpress.

  4. The food was delicious! Considering i am a meat eater i actually enjoyed the vegetarian dishes. we had quite a few dishes but I don't remember the names of them. everything we tried was good we had the sandwiches with extra spicy jalapeños and they're hot enough to make you sweat Mango Lassie is delicious well worth trying they take credit cards the prompt service, deliciously fresh food and clean restaurant make this place well worth the visit.

  5. A very casual place, although you can still sit down and be waited upon. The gentleman behind the counter was extremely kind.

For $30, the two of us were stuffed and had leftovers. The must order here are the dosas. They are made fresh to order. They are just perfectly light, crispy, and thin.

The grilled sandwich, which may seem strange, turned out to be spot on with Indian spices with some onion to cut through the dense bread and potato.

Everything we ordered was packed with flavor. One of the better Indian meals I've had, which is impressive considering the place is vegetarian.

  6. Ordered the Mumbai Grilled Cheese ($7), the Tokri Chatt ($8), and the Paneer Masala Dosa ($9).

The grilled cheese was great. This panini pressed triple decker sandwich features a green chutney, raw onions, potato, and cheese. Felt like a whole dish compressed into a sandwich.

I enjoyed the Tokri Chatt but couldn't identify many of the ingredients used. It was tasty and refreshing – good to share with a few friends.

The dosa, being my first, did not disappoint. Wish it was served on a different plate though.

  7. Since my mom enjoys vegetarian food and never tried Indian, we've decided to visit Mumbai Xpress for their vegetarian dishes.

Deciding what to order from their menu is like taking a foreign language test. There are no pictures or descriptions of what each food item is.

We were able to select two items that sounded very familar: Vegetable Biryani and Garlic Masala Dosa. Luckily for us, the items we chose were the right choices. Both orders were freshly prepared, cooked on the spot and were very good.

I've made a suggestion to the owners to consider pictures or descriptions for each menu item. They agreed that it would be very helpful for non-Indian customers.

I gave three stars for the food but hope to make a return visit so that I can try out the other food items and update this review.

  8. If you try this place, please eat in unless you live very close to the restaurant. There food is the best when it is just cooked.
I enjoyed everything served here. Samosa Chaat, Samosa, Dosa, Grilled Sandwich, lassi and dessert etc. The waitress is VERY friendly. The pricing is very reasonable.
I have to go back and eat in again. (Actually I ordered to go, too, but it was much better when I ate in.)
