  1. Loved the curry goat and rice.. This is not a huge place , it has limited seatings . Not a huge menu either but most of the stuff on the menu was delicious.. I just loved the patties …The prices are OK..around $15 for the entrees..The portions are generous

  2. Not bad at all. I've passed by here a number of time and have been eager to try this place its the only other nearby carribean spot is J&J. I didn't stick around for to eat this time opting to get take out. I got the Oxtail, a large portion which will run you about $14. This is a fair price since Ox tail just about anywhere will not be cheap. This one was ok, very tender and Meaty but lacked flavor a bit. I've had Ox tail with a little more spice but not bad. Another customer in front of me who seemed to be a regular started the hype train up by saying how good the Ox tail is, which is a favorite of mine so I was a bit let down. With all that said I'd like to definitely try another entree here. The place itself looks decent enough, a couple of the side tables were a bit junky with newspaper and the counter lady was a bit chatty with the above mentioned regular before acknowledging me but again I'd like to see how another dish here goes.

  3. Munchie's makes me cry. In a good way, as I force myself to scarf down their authentic, spicy Jerk Chicken. I rarely force myself to eat spicy food, but their chicken is so darn good that I feel bereft watching others indulge.

I tried out Munchie's at a friend's ardent recommendation – she lives in Bergen County now and says Munchie's is one of those places that she would go out of her way to visit. On a lazy weeknight I went to grab some takeout (curry goat, jerk chicken, chicken patties) to sample.

First of all, the portions are generous. We ordered the small and I had leftovers for the next day. The entrée comes with rice and beans which were nice and moist, plus some veggies and plantains that were really sweet and yummy. There was another review that commented the plaintains were more chip-like but that couldn't be further from the truth for the plantains we got.

So, the meat – out of this world good. I mean, I love curry goat so I'm biased, but still, I couldn't find a single complaint about the curry goat Munchie's served. Ok, maybe one – that I wanted more. And the jerk chicken? It was better than the jerk chicken I had years ago staying at an all-inclusive in Jamaica. It was just that good. The patties were yummy, not that much meat but the flaky crust and spices made up for it.

There is casual seating at Munchie's if you choose to dine-in. Limited lot parking but metered street parking is available, and free after 6 pm on weeknights. The staff was friendly.

Is Munchie's now in my regular take-out rotation? You betcha!
