Came here for dinner later on a Sunday evening, and it was pretty much dead. The service was a bit…odd. We had two different waitresses. The one who took our orders answered everything with an abrupt "Yeah". Like:
Me: I'll start with the soup of the day…
Waitress: Yeah
M: And then I'll have the chicken quesadilla
W: Yeah
etc.
The food took a bit longer to come out than I'd have expected, but it wasn't over the top. The food itself was pretty good: my soup and quesadilla were tasty, and I stole a French fry or two from one of my dining companions.
There are a lot of similar places in this area (see near mirror image, Mustang Sally's down the street, for example) and this is a decent place to grab a drink or bite if you're around here. Nothing more, nothing less.
I came here for a specific reason. Not sure how it happened, but my bf is one of the few Ravens fans that I've ever met in NYC. This can be tough during football season, since it's not exactly always shown on the local networks. While doing a search to see if there would be anyplace that he could watch the game amongst like minded fans (instead of this Giants fan) I came across Mustang Harry's. He was so happy to proudly sport his Ravens jacket when walking in. lol .
So, we came on a Sunday and what I really like is that even though the game is on, they still adhere to the brunch menu. I was happy- Steak and eggs please with a mimosa! The food wasn't great but it was decent and the service was right along with it. Some of the televisions were a little dated and made the Ravens look like their uniform is brown- may be time to upgrade. Was also surprised that there weren't more fans out, thought admittedly it was towards the end of a not so good season. Not sure how it would be here if it were really crowded, but they definitely have a-lot of space here.
We'll definitely be back next season.
The salad of the day was a coconut pan fried shrimp with mango and pineapple vinaigrette. It tasted fine, but I feel like it was a bit overpriced, but that's pretty standard in the area maybe? It's a pretty big menu, and so I might go back to try it another time if I'm in the area, but there's quite a few other restaurants in the area as well.
A little tight getting from the entrance through the bar area to the back, but you can hardly blame a pub a block from MSG from getting crowded prior to an event.
Good selection of beer and spirits.
Decent selection of salads, pub food, burgers, etc.
Attentive, courteous, professional wait staff.
Quick enough bartending staff, given the large crowds.
You may want to make a reservation before an event if you have a large party or want a table for dining.
It's pretty much your standard sports-style bar. They'll have the popular games on. They'll have on the music of whomever is performing at MSG that night.
Is it a destination location? No. They're not trying to be. It's a good place for a quick bite or drink before an MSG event, or if you happen to live local.
Stopped in here this afternoon only because I had my bike and needed outdoor seating. We were just trying to pass time, but were extremely surprised with the food and service!
We started with Lettuce Wraps which were delish. I got the Salmon Salad … It was awesome!
Stopped in to meet up with some friends. The bar is in midtown Manhattan, not too far from MSG.
The bar is quite large. Plenty of tables, booths and lots of seats at the bar. The section itself is quite long and has plenty of flatscreen TVs for you to watch. Mostly serves macro style beers with a small selection of 'micro' or 'craft' beers. This is a full service bar with plenty of your favorite liquor stocked.
They have plenty of staff working the bar and restaurant area. The staff is friendly, fast and efficient.
If you are looking for a laid back, casual bar setting, this is not a bad place to stop. I was surprised that it was not overly crowded for a Saturday night, but I did not mind that at all.
"I could probably run a sports bar," you say. Every guy thinks it – just grab some beer, make sure you have your TVs working, serve up some specials, and you're good to go. But what was that part about working TVs? Surely, a Ravens bar will have all of their TVs working during a Ravens game, right?
See pictures for what actually happened. Two broken TVs, half of the bar couldn't watch the game. What the hell guys?!
Pretty good place, quite packed, and decent food. You can never go wrong with the disco fries(I wish the gravy wasn't on the side.. Disco fries should be covered in gravy and then you melt the cheese in my opinion). I got the lamb pops and that sauce was sooooo good! Service was pretty good as well. Nothing to complain about, but nothing to really rave about.
