  1. After reading reviews, I was a little worried coming to this place but I was
pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor and effort made by this family
establishment. When I asked the first girl manning the door seating people what
kind of cuisine it was, she replied European. Later when the three sisters were
manning the bar together and they saw I wasn't trying to hit on any of them, I
asked a different sister and she replied they were Brazilian, Russian and
Persian. Though I didn't try anything from their dinner menu, and the wedding I
was attending was Puerto Rican/American, the paella at the buffet was terrific.
Also some of the grilled vegetables with roasted garlic cloves were also very
tasty. The rest of the buffet items were a little average or just not my thing. I like this place and with time and experience I hope it does well and
    prospers

  2. My kitchen is small, cramped and window-less. My Kitchen, the actual restaurant I visited for an Easter buffet dinner, is the antithesis of the place I'm supposed to cook. It's spacious, roomy and with glorious spring weather, open to the rays of sun cascading through the entrance.

The story of My Kitchen dates back to 1980, where it occupied a spot on bustling Austin Street. Fast forward 20 plus years and Forest Hills' center of restaurant gravity may have shifted to Metropolitan Avenue, home of the current incarnation.

The Easter buffet was easily worth the $25 per person fee. My gluttony total was three plates and trips to the row of devouring. There was pasta salad, salmon pate, fresh mozzarella, barley, salad, chicken francese, paella, spaghetti with meat sauce, pollock, potatoes and more. Oh, and lamb, seeing as this was Easter.

The included dessert was a plate of two cannoli, one chocolate mouse served in a margarita glass, one slice of berry tart and a handful of grapes.

Now the buffet is not a regular feature but I have dined at My Kitchen previously and can offer a few comments on the general experience.

You'll find a fairly eclectic menu that will include daily specials and standbys like spaghetti with meat sauce. I recall a few misses during previous outings where the entree of Moroccan-flavored pasta, for example, was too heavy on the ginger spice. But there were definitely more hits which explains why I've gone back.

Dinner for two with appetizer, entree, dessert and drinks can reach the $100+ range which is a bit high for the neighborhood. It's a pleasant location , especially in the spring and summer months, for a relaxing Saturday or Sunday afternoon dinner. You'll be treated to the musical styling of XM radio stations ranging from Sinatra to Vivaldi.

My Kitchen is better than my actual kitchen.

  3. went to a sweet 16 here.

Going to start off by my first impression. Cute looking restaurant. Street parking only. Entrance for party room is inside the party room, no hallway or any type of space in between, which means there are guest tables rite by the door…..burrrr! Party room is a nice size but says it accommodates up to 100pp online, i don't see how that's possible. Our party was probably 40-50pp and it was kind of "crowded" by the table area. They do have a nice outside area, but it was too cold for me to check out (I'm sure its beautiful in the warmer weather). Party room also had a nice size bar and small DJ area towards the back of the room. Very pretty, looks like it was just done,. Restrooms (i always mention) were single private rooms, one ladies and one for the boys, which kind of caused a small wait, but i prefer single rooms.

the negatives- we waited really long for our food, we weren't the only ones hungry! Wait staff was super young and looked like they were working there first party. My honey asked a waitress for a drink and she sent him to the bar? i was under the impression they were "waiters" but maybe i was wrong. food was not so great, very small portion, very plain chicken, waiters had really no idea what they were serving. Our choices were chicken or salmon both came with the same side. Side had peppers which I THINK a good waiter would mention, however when i asked the our waiter, he didn't really know what was in the potatoes. we started off with a garden salad which was very yummy, but super basic.

Overall: I have only experienced this place "party status" would def give them a chance "dinning status". Place seemed clean and was very nicely decorated, wish they had a parking lot, altho it wasn't very difficult to find street parking.
