Healthy choices, be damned! My Pretzel is a snack spot in Journal Square where I go and try not to think about whether my order is good for me or not. I just know that whatever I choose from the heated display case, it will hit the spot in terms of warm pretzel-ly goodness. The pretzels here have just that right amount of flavor, doughy-ness, and – let's be honest here – oil/grease to satisfy. My Pretzel is a good alternative to Auntie Annie's (with better prices). Plus, they offer more than AA – with fries, pretzel sliders, mini pizzas, and other junk food goodies.
Below are my picks from the menu.
_Specialty Pretzels: Jalapeno, Almond Pretzel, Garlic Parmesan Pretzel
_Gourmet: Spinach & Ricotta Cheese, Pepperoni & Cheese
_Pretzel Sliders: all are very good
_Breakfast Sliders: Nutella Slider (you can order it anytime of the day)
_Pretzel Slider Combos: they come with curly fries and a fountain drink (good deal)
_Dips: Spicy Cheese
_Fountain Soda: Mug Root Beer and Crush Orange Soda
It's funny, I ordered from Slider Street a couple times before I heard of my pretzel. Fast forward a month, and the score is now My Pretzel 8, Slider Street 0.
This place is awesome! The food is really fun, tastes great, and it's *cheap*! Very cheap. So much so that I hesitated to write this and have them thing about raising prices. Delivery is fast, the people are friendly. So while I am going to try other menu items, here are a few of my hits…
always order a few egg and cheese sliders (with/without bacon), couple philly cheesesteak sliders, maybe a nutella slider.
Then, for dessert, listen to this, and you wonder why I'm not a creative genius? I'm not, I'm just a fat guy….Order the cinna bites, then one side order of nutella and one side order of cake frosting…proceed to dip cinna bite in both. repeat about 10 times until you are out of cinna bites..
Lastly, I've had the pepperoni and cheese pretzel too…that's just fun for the whole family.
