Came here for dinner with a group of friends. They gave us two free appetizers for eight people and free dessert for a birthday! The rolls were very good. I recommend the crazy hot roll. It was a bit pricey but worth the experience. The specialty rolls were plated very beautifully
You will always forget about the random restaurant hidden within a strip mall. Always!
That is exactly what happened to Nagoya, which I would end up at a few times back a few years ago, but when I turned into this really cool guy I am today, I somehow forgot about my old friend.
BYOB. Next door is a liquor store with some huge 33oz Japanese beers perfect for any occasion, but more appropriate for this occasion. I grabbed two for my romantic date with my girlfriend and entered Nagoya on a Friday night around 8pm. No wait. We ordered, cranked open our extra tall boys and got a little drunk while waiting for our sushi. We ordered a few standard rolls (tuna, yellowtail) as well as a Volcano & Spider roll. Everything was delicious as I remembered!
I think the best part of Nagoya is the size of the sushi they serve. You really do not need to order more than two/three regular rolls if you're a normal human being. The extra special roll just makes you want to pass out in the chair and sleep at the restaurant for the night.
Sorry Nagoya. I will be back again soon, but next time I'm sitting at the bar where the party seemed to be.
Reliable, long popular, no frills sushi place. Reasonably priced and BYO, Nice staff. Be prepared to wait.

A full restaurant on a Wednesday evening???? Who would have thought!
I was in the area the other night for my doctor's appointment and was looking to each sushi for dinner. Yelp had Nagoya nearby with a 4.0 star rating so it seemed like the restaurant to try out. Having been full of customers, my bf and I had to wait for 5 minutes for a table to be cleaned.
So soon enough we were seated with menus. But as the night progressed we had noticed that only three servers were tending to the entire restaurant floor. One server hustled as she maneuvered through the floor, others were a leg behind, but all in all everyone was attended to at some point, just not as quick as I would expect.
Having reviewed the menu we had decided to go with the following sushi rolls: BLOODY MARY, SUNSHINE, CRAZY TUNA, and a classic CALIFORNIA. The sushi overall was pretty good. The higher the prices, the bigger the rolls as expected. Personally, I believe they can use a third less of the rice used to roll the sushi. I found myself removing clumps of rice off the sushi pieces before I took a bite. The Sunshine roll was a little to mushy in texture for me with the avocado slices and wasabi cream sauce. The Bloody Mary and the Crazy Tuna were my top two rolls of the evening. The California was just a really palate cleanser.
In short, a little too much rice on the rolls, a little short on the waiting staff. BYO.
BYOB! Liquor store next door and ice cream parlour in the same strip mall!
But for desert, you should stick around Nagoya.
And for dinner? Well…mwhahahahahaha! The rolls are amazing and the chefs are awesome and funny! The place is really intimate and cozy.
The rolls are not only amazing, but eccentric! There will definitely be several things on the menu you haven't tried in your life before.
Like. Ever.
Walk into Nagoya any Thursday, Friday or Saturday night and odds are you will see a crowd waiting in the front for a seat. Watch more closely and you'll see that many of those waiting and eating already know the staff and in some cases – each other. That is the type of place this is. You've heard of the local family diner or local bar, this is Westfield's local sushi place. This immediately gives you a warm feeling as you enter the restaurant.
What's funny is, looking at it from the outside, you'd think this wasn't much of a place to look at with its tiny, strip mall store front. However, inside is a beautiful space. Beyond the cashier and waiting area are several chair/table arrangements to the left, and to the right is an elevated area where you can literally kick off your shoes and sit cross legged on a low table for a different type of dining experience. Nestled in the back corner is a sushi bar that can seat ten people easily.
The food on the menu skews towards Japanese fare, but there are some Asian Fusion styled gems. One in particular makes my mouth water – their sweet and sour soup, which is nothing like the one you'd get at a Chinese Take Out place. Instead, this one is spicy and comes with shrimp and scallop and has a deep, rich flavor.
Their rolls range from "okay" to "amazing". Their spicy tuna rolls are standard for me, but some of their specialty rolls are definitely worth a try. I generally get their Sashimi appetizer which has about ten pieces (I may have miscounted) of sashimi – more than enough for a meal. The sashimi "regular" comes with 17!
Good service, a nice atmosphere and beautifully kept setting equals a place that is definitely worth your visit!
Greattt sushi!! My husband and I went this past Saturday night and We did the spicy salmon, volcano eruption roll and the Westfield roll both were delicious !! It's a byob spot and the liquor store is literally next door! If you get the large sake for $9 they will hear it up for you and put it in the carafe! Definitely one of the better sushi in the area, the special rolls are the usual $12-14 and the regular spicy salmons and such $5….they do do brown rice for $1 per roll too! Def check it out 🙂
Good overall dining experience in the great downtown of Westfield, but I've definitely had better sushi. Certainly was enjoyable, but nothing that really stood out in my mind.
I had the shrimp tempura roll with as asparagus along with an order of vegetable gyoza. The gyoza was pretty good, definitely stood out a bit. The roll however just wasn't anything special. The rolls were huge I might add, so you're definitely getting your money's worth. Maybe I just went with the wrong roll and I should try something else, but shrimp tempura is usually my go to.
I'd definitely come back and try something else given the good yelp reviews, so next time I'm in town I'll give it another shot. Stay tuned…
