  1. Ordered a power plate with beef, hummus and quinoa. The beef was ground beef so nothing amazing going on there. The quinoa was decent compared to the rest of the meal. The hummus had a weird texture– similar to a tuna salad with OD mayo….i could not put more than a bite in my mouth….never coming back

  2. A little slow and pretty pricey for a lunch spot – but the food is interesting, they have a ton of gluten-free options, and it seems like one of the healthier grab and go spots in the Rock Center concourse.

Most of their menu is or can be made gluten-free – including scrumptious gluten-free falafel. The only gluteny foods are their wheat wraps and sandwich bread I believe – so that leaves a lot of permutations for salads, power plates and gluten free wraps.

The power plate with falafel and quinoa is filling and complex – the quinoa has peppers, nuts, dried cranberries, dried raisins and is generally well seasoned.

Since it's a pretty big serving, getting a power plate and stretching it for lunch two days in a row or lunch and dinner one day is usually my best bet if I'm not starving.

Next time I do want to try one of their gluten free wrap options!

  3. The new restaurant in the Rock Center concourse has everyone very excited. And for pretty good reason.

My friend and I arrived around 1:15 PM on a Friday and there was a line out the door and down the hallway. There was an attendant providing menus to those waiting in line outside and answering any questions we had. The line moves quickly and they are already very efficient, don't stress about long lines–you'll be in and out quicker than you think.

Then menu is pretty basic: sandwiches, salads, hummus plates, and powerfood plates. I ordered the hummus plate (you can get original or roasted red pepper hummus, I opted for roasted red pepper) with baked falafel (made with quinoa). The plate came to just over $10. I got a decent sized piece of hummus and was pretty impressed with the portioning.

The roasted red pepper had a mild pepper taste to it, it wasn't extremely flavorful. The falafel was crumbly but had an excellent flavor and was quite delicious with the hummus and green tahini sauce provided. It felt healthy and fresh, a good, if slightly expensive option for the concourse.

Very impressed with this new option for dining. Fresh, quality food and decent service. Definitely a nice addition to the other dining options in the area.

  4. Nanoosh is located in the underground food court below Rockefeller Center. It's open on the weekends which is a plus because many of the establishments down here aren't. It's basic Mediterranean food. Good quality but nothing special. I had the make your own bowl thing with quinoa (which was actually extremely good and had dried cranberries in it!), chicken, feta, and hummus. It also comes with a side of pita bread. You can also choose your dressing. Minus 1 star because they didn't have any tap water available and make you purchase a bottle of water. I'm pretty sure this is illegal. Also minus 1 star because the staff doesn't speak English well and wasn't able to answer questions. Otherwise, this place is pretty good!
