this is a quick, tasty, filling lunch spot to check out. there are plenty of options to choose from. i went for the power plate, which filled me right up. in addition to selecting a grain and protein choice you also get two sides and a sauce. it's a bit questionable when they count feta as a "side" but whatever. i want with hummus and mushrooms. i have to say, the hummus was pretty underwhelming. while it had a great smooth/ creamy consistency it was really lacking flavor. thankfully they offer complimentary green and red hot sauces that really gave the hummus a needed kick.
i plan to come back here again for a quick lunch, maybe try the red pepper hummus next time!
I think the best advice I can give for this place is to make a special order. Due to my crazy class schedule, I was getting lunch at 11:45, well before the lunch rush from all the nearby offices. You can see into the prep area of the kitchen (which is cool) and of course I checked it out.
What I saw was all the employees half-making a bunch of wraps, probably so they could bang them out quickly when the rush hits. This makes sense in terms of efficiency, but it also means that you could have a wrap that has had hummus soaking into it for a half hour.
The food itself was mediocre. I got the new chicken wrap, which was kind of like ground chicken that was sort of a "layer" in the final product. Not very chickeny. The whole thing was sort of bland in general, which is kind of disappointing too.
My friend recommended this place for lunch when my cousin was in town and we went there last week. It's a nice, "fast food", Mediterranean restaurant. It's very bright, open, and inviting restaurant.
I got the hummus powerfood plate and it was pretty good. It's deceivingly filling. The pita was large and OK (to me, just your average pita bread), but the hummus was decent – I got the roasted red pepper. I just felt a little underwhelmed in the overall amount of food, meaning I wish I got more than just simply hummus and pita for the price I paid. However, it was tasty, healthy, and I'll come back again for lunch.
Welcome to Mediterranean Chipotle.
Power Plate – Carb/Base, Protein, 2 sides and a sauce $12.95
–Base: Farro, Quinoa, Greens, Hummus
–Protein: Chicken, Chicken Shawa, Falafel, Egg, Beef,
–Toppings/Sides: Hummus, Salad, Mushrooms, Lentils, Chickpeas, Feta
–Sauce: Green Tahini, Tzatziki, Shakshuka Spread, Citrus Olive Oil Dressing
My order: Quinoa, Chicken Shawa, Mushrooms, Hummus, Green Tahini
They give plenty of quinoa. It had cranberries in it which I don't like with savory meals, but the quinoa was cooked extremely well. The Chicken Shawa is their regular marinated chicken with mediterranean spices. VERY JUICY but they should add MORE SPICE. Also, this location skimps on the chicken, I'm usually left finishing my plate of quinoa and hummus with no protein.. The hummus is very good especially since hummus is so commonplace these days. Very creamy (from tahini), you can taste the subtle heat from the cayenne, but it needed a bit more lemon juice to brighten it up. The hummus was a little chalky but they have bottles of olive oil on every table to give the hummus more moisture. All of their vegetables are organic and my mushrooms did taste, very fresh. The Green Tahini sauce is to die for. Overall, the meal is quite filling with the lavish portion of hummus but the protein ration was disappointing.
RED&GREEN SAUCE:
Nanoosh has two special sauces: a green mild jalapeno sauce and a red spicy habanero sauce. The red is barely spicy and something didn't taste right. The green sauce is very refreshing, citrusy and the herbs (I think cilantro?) make it a great sauce. These sauces are free and pre-packaged near the cutlery (see pics).
The place is really nice, clean, plenty of tables, average food wait time, and they have soups, salads, wraps and plenty of organic options.
I would also recommend Eons Greek on 2nd Ave, very similar with more protein options.
Recommended: Hummus
Mediterranean fast food is becoming increasingly popular. It is no longer just food-trucks, but also established chains who serves falafel bowls, wraps and salads with hummus of different sorts (and more of course).
This Nanoosh location is clean and friendly. I found the service to be fast but otherwise I was not impressed. Although I chose a rosted red pepper hummus to go with my wrap, the food was flavorless. Nanoosh probably won't be my first choice in the future when there is so many cool places in the city.
Well, I came with a lot of expectations. A friend told me they serves the best humus in NYC. I had falafel and humus. It was so-so. I had better falafels as well as humus. No salt, no taste in both. Picles and humus? Honestly, not a good combination! Yuck!
Went here today with my Mom. They were offering free samples of their yummy hummus which was was delicious so we decided to have lunch here. I had the falafel with red pepper hummus and the Mediterranean salad with feta. It was so good! Nice portion served with pita bread. My mom had the vegetable and hummus wrap which she loved. This is a great spot for fresh food and its served quickly! Prices are great too!
Place is average. A little over priced and their falafel falls apart (because it's baked). Come here for a healthier option but for taste go somewhere else
