Naruto Ramen

“There are only a few ramen places in the UWS, this is one of the better ones.”
“For a frame of reference, Jin Ramen (Harlem) & Tampopo Ramen (Washington Heights) are the two solid ramen spots in Northern Manhattan.”

The service was fast and courteous. I ordered their fried chicken appetizer which was a littler under cooked and their Naruto Ramen bowl, which was a tiny bit under seasoned, but still tasty and the noodles were a little too thick.
This is a solid ramen place in the UWS. Even though it's not super trendy, I actually prefer it to Jin Ramen. The decor may not be as appealing as Jin, but you'll rarely have to wait for a seat and the meal quality is very similar. Also, Naruto appeals to the 20 yr old anime fan that used to be me over a decade ago.
Naruto Ramen has a very straightforward menu with about 7-9 varieties of ramen. I like the chicken cutlet curry ramen and the spicy naruto ramen.
If you're looking for a load of food, order the chicken cutlet curry ramen. It's exactly what it sounds like and it's very delicious and filling. They give you a healthy helping of chicken cutlet and mounds of curry all simmering on top of a bowl of ramen.
If you're looking for more standard fair, check out their spicy naruto ramen or plain naruto ramen. The broth is medium on the light to rich scale. For reference: Ippudo's broth is rich and Totto's broth is light.
How can you not root for a restaurant that shares a name with one of the most popular manga/animes of all time? When in the UWS and you need a no-frills bowl of ramen, stop by Naruto.
Busy spot on weekend nights. Very nice and accommodating service.
For what concerns the food, I had the chance to taste several of their ramen, including the mega naruto, spicy naruto, miso and vegetable miso ramen. I like that they do fill the bowls with lots of items, and I found the different broths to be ok. However, I don't think they are super flavorful.
Keep in mind that the several spicy ramen on their menu are very spicy.
It's not as crowded as Jin ramen, but offers much better food than jin. It's not the best ramen spot in manhattan, but I'm satisfied with this spot on upper west. I've been here several times already. One time I had the lunch special, which I can get extra free small portion of curry rice. The selection is pretty standard. The recent time I tried the vegan option. It's tasty as well with cauliflowers and some other veggies. Still, $20 min for credit card.
The namesake of this ramen shop, number one ninja at surprising people – Uzumaki Naruto, is the main reason for my obsession with these Japanese noodles. Gone are my childhood days of instant ramen from that Kung Fu branded orange bag. NYC being a large epicenter of a ramen universe, it was fated that this restaurant opened close to my place of residence.
I slurped the Naruto ramen, the spicy Naruto ramen, and the Tan Tan ramen in several different sittings and settings. My favorite is the Tan Tan ramen's spicy sesame flavored broth, but the lack of plentiful meat is a tragedy. Most of the bowls are soy based so they won't make you feel bloated or heavy afterwards. The noodles are of the thicker variety and you receive several large handfuls. The pork is braised and comes in a decent sized chunk. There is seating at the bar and several small tables. A waitstaff of two and kitchen of two ensure your dining needs are met. Your order can be picked up or delivered for your convenience.
Arrived early to the UWS for work and decided to have a bite to eat, and lucky for me this was the day that they got their credit card machine up and running. (October 2nd, 2015)
I sat at the bar and there were hooks where you can hang your stuff, which seemed pretty impractical if the bar was full. Anyways the staff was very friendly and always yelled "Welcome" in Japanese whenever someone entered.
I ordered the Naruto Ramen and it was just like any other ramen I'd ever had. Their ingredients seemed very fresh and it was tasty. Then I orderd their green tea ice cream that came with red beans, that was alright.
This place is very small.
Came here last night for dinner. It is cozy and small but fortunately there was room to sit. The service was extremely kind and attentive. The small plates are exceptional. We got the daikon salad which was large, fresh, and deliciously dressed (and I usually do not like salad dressing), the pork buns which also were exceptional (the pork was very flavorful and lean but juicy and well seasoned with a certain degree of sweetness from the dressing). We shared the large mega spicy ramen which was a huge portion of ramen easily shareable for two. It tasted very homemade with very fresh ramen nodules, very flavorful broth (which was reduced and thick but a tad too salty) and many vegetables which I loved!! We shared an Orion beer (Okinawa beer) which was light and refreshing. We would definitely come here again.
Not bad ramen – the spices could be a tad better, the miso tasted a little weak, but not bad. Had the vegetarian miso ramen, and vegetables were pretty fresh – not Choy, broccoli, tofu, corn, bamboo, all were pretty good. Tofu was straight up raw and of the silken variety, which wasn't the best. Good texture on the noodles. Nice service here, friendly wait staff.
