Nathans Famous

“Famous 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest.”

“Their orangeade is not so great, basically tasted like the kid famous box drink – hi-C.

I can always recommend Nathan's for a good hotdog on Coney Island's boardwalk.”

“IMO, Nathan's crinkle fries are more delicious than any fries at any other fast-food place, anywhere, ever.”

  1. I stopped by this Nathan's Famous Hot Dog place to try their Original Hot Dog and their orangeade, but the wait time to get up to order was longer than I was originally hoping. Getting my food after ordering wasn't too bad, however. The hot dog itself was alright and the bread was a little bit on the dry side, but nevertheless, it was something to eat and there aren't any Nathan's Famous Hot Dog restaurants where I currently reside.

  2. The lines here are not only insanely long, but it also moves so gosh darn slowly. Not ideal on a hot, sweltering day during the peak of summer. And to be packed like sardines in line with sweaty, sticky, sunscreen-smelling people when it is 90+ degrees weather? Ah, nightmare! Not to mention after you receive your order, it is near impossible to find a seat.

I don't understand. How hard is it to put together a hot dog or smother some cheese over fries? Why must it take so long? The food here is way overpriced and not even half decent tasting at all. The lobster salad sandwich is the worst excuse of a "lobster" ever. I might as well be eating straight coleslaw in a hot dog bun. The fries were over fried, yet soggy. The hot dog was just downright sad. How did Takeru Kobayashi manage to eat so many?

I guess the only reasons people come here is because 1) there are not many food options in Coney Island and 2) it is the Coney Island beach thing to do.

    No thanks. And never again.

  3. Like good tourists, we tried Nathan's when we went to Coney Island. Lines were not very long but the service was incredibly slow.

My carnivore company was completely underwhelmed by the oh so famous hot dogs and had much better elsewhere for a lot less money. I made the mistake and tried the fries twice but no matter if with cheese (not sure how this sauce qualifies for the name cheese) or without, they were just bad and soggy.

    Bad tourist trap.

  4. What's more American than hot dogs, fries, and greasy food at the beach? However, this location disappointed because the service was extremely slow. As expected, lines were long but it took me 20 minutes to get my fries.

My friends all ordered hotdogs and they were perfectly cooked. Also, there was a snap to them. I ordered the bacon cheese fries and they were okay. They weren't crunchy so the cheese sauce only made the fries even soggier. The bacon helped because let's be realistic: bacon helps any plate of food.

  5. Hyped and overrated! First the queue at this joint is pretty long (expect 15-20 mins minimum). Then once  u collect ur order the next challenge is to find a spot to sit. This becomes tough, if the sun is scorching hot. Plus, it's just like any other Hotdog. Really failed to understand what's the hubaloo about!

  6. The food is ok. Highly processed, salty, fatty yumminess. The lines are ridic on the boardwalk… go around to the original for a slightly shorter line.

  7. I don't think you could go wrong with hot dogs…. Hubby and I went out on a date and decided to go to Coney Island and when in Coney Island u must have a Nathans hot dog come on is a must right??? So I decided to have a chili dog with French fries and a beer on the side … Yes they sell beers at Nathans I couldn't believe it that's why I love NY…. Lines were long but don't let that discouraged u … We barely waited in line … The menu was out of this world they had everything from seafood to burgers to raw oysters (I know it falls under seafood but come on raw oysters at Nathans?) Anyway when in Coney Island make sure to stop here … Great service good hot dogs refreshing beer.

  8. NATHANS FAMOUS HOT DOGS! I guess this would be things to do when your in NYC. BUT! I have to say. It wasn't all that. I mean you are competing with the worlds hot dogs where West coast Triumphs you in flavor, creativity, and texture. One of NYC's signature is hot dogs! I feel like we can up the game! I get the classics are good too. But it doesn't hurt to have more variety! So we ordered dog with onions, classic dog, corn dog, the fries, cheese fries, lemonade and mango slush. For a long line, and over price weiners. I rather go else where and eat something else. Spending $30 on dogs is just not my forte.
