Highlights:
—-the afternoon guy at the cash register is appropriately friendly (NOT creepy hit on you friendly), lovely
—-usually have ripe avocados
—-excellent fancy chocolate bar and energy bar selection
—-choice vegan A.B.C. cookies (ginger! Lemon poppyseed! Mmm! Sometimes you need a cookie at the end of the day!)
—-lots of high-end things like Applegate Farms turkey, smoked salmon, nice cheeses, in case friends pop in for a late night party and you are like WE NEED FINE UPSTANDING SNACKS BUT THE GROCERY IS CLOSED
—good selection of vegetarian fresh and frozen goods, including Power Fu sandwiches (I LOVE THEM), Amy's, Morningstar Farms, etc.
Friendly service, takes Visa, and makes solid dollar coffee. it's 24 hours also which makes it convenient for any time. I just wish they had beer!
Prices are expensive on the organic and natural soaps/shampoos/cleaning products but it's expected.
In the great bodega handbook, there is a rule… Stocking Rule 638, subsection 2, paragraph 3: your bodega should, at all times, provide a steady stock of Haagen Dazs ice cream. Specifically, caramel cone. Now, for some of you, this may not meet your criteria for a 4 star review, but for me, as far as bodegas go, it's the only rule that matters.
I've lived next to this place for 4 years now, and it has rarely ever let me down when I'm in a last minute ice cream pinch. You'd be surprised at just how many other bodegas in the hood DON'T carry Haagen Dazs caramel cone. It's criminal I tell you… criminal.
Oh yeah and they stock a lot of other little household items too that are NOT Haagen Dazs caramel cone… but they've rarely ever made it into my periphery of vision. I've never tried anything from their grill either.
