  1. I'm usually impressed by this place, the cozy setting, the customer service, and the breakfast menu usually makes me happy, however this morning I ordered the Spanish omelette and instead of getting salsa on the omelette, it was straight tomato sauce, it was not sexy.

I usually order sunny side up eggs, hash browns, coffee, and turkey sausage…but today I was feeling adventurous….wrong.

I didn't complain because I was in a rush. The customer service was as warm as the coffee. Please don't order Spanish omelette looking for salsa it is straight tomato paste.

  2. Bleh. The main reason to go here (and why we went here) was because they didn't have a wait and we were pressed for time. However, if we had 20-30 minutes to spare to wait for an open table at a better brunch place, we would/should have.

We went around 2pm on New Year's day. It was crowded with screaming babies and the whole bit, but we were seated promptly. Service was adequate and the guy seemed nice enough, if rushed (understandable). The food, however, was lacking. I ordered a simple American Cheese omelette. The eggs had the consistency of a sponge and the cheese was, like, solid inside as it wasn't melted. I'm not sure how to describe it except to say that there was a clear deliniation between the cheese and the egg as if they weren't cooked together. I am just used to pressing my fork through an omelette and seeing a gooey, beautiful mess of blended cheese and egg together and this was just 2 layers of spongy egg with unmelted cheese separating it. Home fries were fine, nothing special. I did, however, appreciate the fact that the toast was pre-buttered. However that is really the only good thing I can say about this place. Avoid.

  3. Just got the mozzarella sticks. They were pretty average but done in a jiffy. I realized each comes out to about $1/stick, which is not as awesome. Nonetheless, it's pretty good food gratification.

Had space but was pretty packed at 11pm on a Saturday. It's obviously a good, solid spot in the 'hood!

  4. The omelette was so over cooked that it was like eating a sponge. A very flat and greasy sponge.

    Bacon and sausage were unremarkable.

    Meh.

  5. This place is in my neighborhood so mostly I'm just grateful to have a decent place to eat at 2 a.m. when the mood strikes.

It's standard diner fare – breakfast all day, burgers, sandwiches and salads. I wouldn't try anything too complicated. One time I ordered the lasagna and it was very clear it had been in the back of the freezer for some time. But if you stick to things that have a lot of turnover – basically breakfast and burgers – you should be fine.

The owner and staff are super friendly and will accommodate food requests to whatever extent they can.

I like the outdoor patio seating in the summer. It makes for a nice perch when the weather is nice.

  6. Came here for some late night grub. The diner is pretty small so if you come at a busy time, it seems like it would be really tight and a serious wait. Luckily I came on a Thursday night/Friday morning and it wasn't too packed.

The server was not friendly at all! He had a bad attitude and barely spoke to us. Sorry you were having a bad day sir, but when you want a good tip, you gotta at least TRY to fake the funk.

I saw some good options but I just wanted some wings. They had a good amount of fat on them but they were still good.

It was hard to find parking around there too but I found one to squeeze into.

  7. Went here at 3 am after an adventure in Williamsburg and the service was pretty bad! I might have been in a rush because there was an extremely creepy man "trying to wife up my cousins and me".  Ummmmm… Silly man eat your chilli fries

Got the eggplant parm. Hoagie and it was delicious! Got fries and the meal was affordable! There place is a great stop for drunk cravings

  8. You can't always get what you want. However, you might find you get what you need.

It's in a song so it must be true.

That's how it is with Neptune Diner II. In a neighborhood with amazing food every two blocks or so, it's not fair to compare this spot to anything else around it.

That being said, Neptune always satisfies and comes through, when you need it.

It's a 24 hour, classic diner, that has everything you expect, want and need, from a diner.

The place is always clean, the staff is always really friendly and the food is alright. Nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.

They do my favorite drunk diner dish just the way I like it. Triple decker, chicken salad, lettuce and bacon, with an order of disco fries on the side. They know how I like it, cheese on top of the fries and the gravy on the side.

It's a typical diner, one that's much better than some others around, but obviously falls in comparison to something like Tom's, which is a few blocks away.
