Just a smidge under a four star review based solely on the lunch special, my experience was as such.
Time was typically of the essence as I quickly read the menu of some thirty plus options so quickly, I really had no chance of settling on any one dish. Fortunately the Lunch Menu caught my eye on a 5×7 postcard next to the register.
"What's the quickest?" Said I pointing thusly — "Chicken and Rice!" Said he.
Not the easiest meal to balance upon a small set of handlebars with a complimentary 12oz water sloshing & sploshing around atop my hefty non biodegradable while lunch tray.
The chicken was well seasoned, mixed with sauteed onions & peppers — properly dressed in a white sauce. The brown rice was not great but served its purpose well playing background and providing structure.
Similar to the TV dinners of the 70's, the other two compartments held a cute little salad, fresh and mixed well with its tray mates. In typically don't do the jailhouse mix, but it worked well for this meal.
I've been meaning to try this spot for several months since I walk by it every day on my way to the train. I tried a couple of vegetarian dishes (Dal, sag paneer) with naan and they tasted great. Both veggie dishes taste unique compared to the original Indian versions of these dishes and I liked that there wasn't too much oil in them. The service seemed very nice and it cost about $12 for the meal. The serving size is pretty small compared to most restaurants in the neighborhood but still worth it. I also really liked the green sauce. I have to try the rice next time.
