My Confession
Confession #1
I'm horribly ignorant when it comes to non-American and non-European cuisine. So I can't comment on authenticity of the food at Taste of Tandoor. I can say it's very good. The lamb tikka masala was tender, flavorful and a pretty hefty portion. I made two meals of it. The tandoori chicken is fantastic. It's not hot but spicy. Flavor without the burn. Strangely the lunch special was better than the full meal portion.
Different cook or random occurrence ?
Who knows.
Once while waiting to pick up a to go order I was given a complimentary mango lassi ( similar to a smoothie). Besides being a considerate offering, it was great. I ordered it on my next visit.
(Tandoor also has the largest selection of vegetarian offerings in the area. Banana and eggplant pakora were wonderful appetizers)
Confession #2
There's no hair on my palm but it feels like my eyesight is deteriorating.
Confession #3
I have no problem traveling or dining alone. I do feel self-conscious being the only diner in a restaurant.. It seems their business is largely take-out and delivery. The decor ( yes there are Xmas lights) is okay and the staff has been friendly, I think they are on a stretch of Flatbush that isn't overly inviting. The locals are afraid of "foreign" food and everyone else is afraid of the locals. I wouldn't say it's dangerous, just there's not much around it. You probably won't make a night of it on Flatbush and Ave D.
Confession #4
I frequently think this life is my dream and my dream life is my real life.
I fucking rule in the other life. Right now I plan on finishing this review and beer and lighting out for the territories.
Confession #5
I'm fond of this place and hope it does well in an area where chicken wings and fried rice are considered international cuisine. If you're in Ditmas Park, Flatbush or Bklyn College I would highly recommend.
I wouldn't make a special trip here but if shopping at Target or in general vicinity definitely keep it in mind.
