  1. My family and I love this place! For the most part, I usually just say, "Chinese food is Chinese food," but this place has a special place in my heart. I grew up in town, and I have been going here with my parents ever since I can remember. The people who work there are super friendly, and they actually care about their customers. I've eaten there several times and while the place is usually rather empty, they are always attentive and upbeat. Most Chinese places are simply take-out stores or have very limited seating, but this restaurant has a full seating area. Prices are reasonable, and I've never had a complaint with what I've ordered.

You can get Chinese food anywhere, completely true, but I'm always a fan of helping family businesses. They've been in service for years, and they do their job with a smile.

  2. New China Inn serves up simple and classic Chinese food. This restaurant is a throw back that offers friendly service and plenty of low costs menu options. I particularly enjoy the column system of ordering, which allowed me to order a soup, along with a menu item that comes with an egg roll and fried rice. We also ordered the pu pu platter that came with plenty of meats (chicken, steak, shrimp fritter, spare rib). The Szechuan chicken was a tasty choice.

  3. I think I was spoiled as a child – my parents only went to old-school sit-down Chinese restaurants (like the almighty Wing Haun in Harrison or Golden China in the Essex Green shopping center back in the day).  Then they seemed to disappear and it's just pick-up/take-out joints (with maybe a table or two but the 'dining room' was never really appealing) – and while some are awesome (here's looking at you New Great Wall), you still miss the whole 'going out' element.

Well a co-worker kept recommending (bugging) me about New Chinna Inn recently and I gave it a shot.

I could gripe about some food being murdered by poor frying and some sauces being entirely too sweet and cloying but who cares… just walking in, sitting down and immediately jumping into a pot of Chinese tea made me love this place.

The two older women who kept coming around to check on us and the prompt service were all the small touches I've been missing for way too long.

And I noticed some people complaining about the price but I thought it was more than fair.  And we left with a big bag of leftovers that were enjoyed the following day.

  4. I like New China Inn. Eating there reminds me of my youth, eating at Willie Yu's Shanghai Palace in Cliffside Park. There arent many chinese restaurants around that have seating….many are just take-out only.

The food is pretty good, not the best I ever had but not the worst.. I like that they have an extensive menu….it gives me a lot of choices, as I like to try new dishes. They offer some family style specials that include an appetizer and dessert. The service is always very attentive. The owner always seems friendly….never noticed anyone to be mean like one of the previous reviewers stated.

  5. When my friends and I walked into New China Inn recently, we were all very hungry, but left full and satisfied.  We started with the pu pu platter, which was huge and filled with various meat options (spare ribs, chicken wings, steak).  The menu says it is for 2, but 4 of us easily shared it. For dinner I ordered a combination platter of sweet and sour chicken which came with fried rice, an eggroll and wonton soup.  The sweet and sour chicken was extra crispy.  The wait staff was very friendly and kept checking on us throughout the meal and refilled our water and hot tea regularly.
