  1. this bodega name sounds generic. nothing special here which works for me. it's simple and to the point. nada fancy. this ain't your dad's bodega. actually it really is…it's exactly the type of bodega your mom or dad would have frequented during the darker non-Disneyfied days of NYC without the surreptitious drug-dealing.

the bodega is a hub of light socializing with neighborhood weirdos (not really–but you will run into your share of panhandlers, winos, narcotics anonymous failures, and genuine lunatics) milling about (not in the store though)…but that's life on Avenue D…and if that scares/bother/etc. you, you a punk and don't belong in this part of the city anyway. lol

back to the review…the place looks relatively clean but has that gritty fluorescent lighting–creepy. there's a deli counter squeezed in  as most bodegas do. smallish cramped space with packaged food goods and household-ish items. there's stuff to buy everywhere. it's all convenience store, household cleaning etc. items, personal stuff throughout. you can find aspirin, ibuprofen, cold medicine, deodorant, skin cream etc. (–most of this stuff is located behind the counter bc i imagine it's small enough to steal easily by "patrons." lol.

there's a giant island of chips, cookies, single serve cereal packs, etc. for school kids before or after school as well as soda, juice, etc. in refrigerated displays around the right side and back of the store. there's beer for day-drinkers as well as those who need last-minute 6ers for the game.

the crowding of products on shelves and everywhere means there are hidden treasures to be had. a year ago i found two cans of Planters Cheez Balls (haven't been made since 2006) tucked in a corner years ago. who knows what other magical items you'll find here–Frodo's ring? Potter's Wand? Luke's lightsaber? you never know. lol

there's a deli counter. never seen anyone order a sandwich. however miracles do happen so imagine folks come in for fine meats n cheeses on a roll. i imagine the sandwich costs are low, so folks in the neighb are happy n appeased.

the staff is pretty laidback. not chatty at all. they do their thing. while this is not the fanciest or most popular of bodegas in the neighborhood. it does the job fine. they serve the sin category-goers well (cigarettes, booze/beer, condoms, sugar fiendery/junkfood)

i wish i could give this place more props, but what i love about it is how normally average everything in it is. nothing's bad nor great. just a solid good.

if you are looking for options through the day or night and you find yourself on Avenue D, you can't go wrong or right with Express Deli Manhattan which is expressly in the middle. SEEWHATIDIDTHERE

drops mic…bc i need to carry bags of cheetos back to the apt YO!
    i out.
