BAGELS! BAGELS! BAGELS!
You walk in, instantly wow'd by the rustic ambience and sophisticated embellishments. High wooden ceilings w/ bright lights, a garden of light fixtures that hangs above the main table, chalkboard menus, brick walls, the smell of coffee beans, sheesh can I live here!?
I ordered a plain bagel (TOASTED!) w/ tofu/spinach/artichoke cream cheese [no meat on Fridays – Lenten season]. Honestly, it was O-kay. The bagel was HUGE and toasted perfectly. But the reason I chose the plain bagel was 'cause I thought the TSA cream cheese was gonna be packed with flavor, I thought wrong. It was a little bland to be honest.
Considering the bagel was very good, I'm definitely going to come back here to try maybe one of their Signature sandwiches or other cream cheese options? The dessert was very enticing, as well.
Love this place. I am totally not a breakfast person but NYCBCH house has fresh & delicious soups every day. Today for instance, they have a selection of Lobster Bisque, Chicken Noodle or Cream of Broccoli with Monterey Jack. I have seen about 10-12 different soups on rotation. The chicken and dumpling soup is to die for. The cashiers are always super friendly and the place is always spotless.
Nothing starts the weekend with a bang without the perfect pair of coffee and bagel! You can find both here! This place is hippy and lively, even during their early morning hours.
My go-to bagel at any bagel store is a toasted Everything Bagel with Lox and Scallion Cream Cheese. Oh yes, we go big here! We ordered at the register and by the time I reached the end of the bar, my order was ready. In addition to my go-to bagel, my companion and I also got coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice. The bagel was super soft and chewy. The garlic, poppy seeds, sesame, and salt were so fresh tasting and covered the entire bagel, so you get a good taste of all every bite. Scallion Cream Cheese had a bit of whip to it and it's a bit lighter than other places. Norwegian Smoked Salmon is always the best addition to any bagel, no arguments there!
Fresh-Squeezed Orange Juice was really good! It was sweet and refreshing. Thumbs up to the quality coffee! It was perfectly brewed and totally not expected from a bagel shop!
I may have found my new favorite bagel shop!
Home to one of the best bagels I've had in New York, this place is an under-the-radar gem. I feel confident in these statements despite the fact that we only tried one item: the everything bagel with chipotle cream cheese. The bagel had the perfect amount of "everything" on it, and it was further notable for its excellent texture and massiveness. The cream cheese was incredible.
The line here moves quickly enough, and the staff is competent and friendly. Our bagel was ready just minutes after we ordered.
Although it was crowded inside due to the hot day, we were able to find a cosy seat by the window. The decor here is really nice, especially the chandelier light fixture. The bathroom was spacious and very clean.
I case it's not already obvious, I highly recommend the NYC Bagel and Coffee House.
I came here at the end of a long walk down Broadway for some breakfast to bring home. I got a regular bagel with cream cheese and one bagel with their "specialty" Nutella-and-banana toppings. Both were good. The bagels are REALLY big, which for the most part makes up for how expensive they were. Usually a bagel with cream cheese is, what, $2.50? Closer to $4 here. Either way, the bagels were very good.
One complaint: cut the bananas across, not long ways. I had the same problem with this that I have with slices of onion on a burger; I took one bite and the entire large (nutella-covered = sticky) slice of banana got pulled out of the bagel. I didn't want to ouch it to put it back on.
I was staying with my friend in Queens and this bagel shop was very close to her apartment. I tried another bagel shop which was not that good so I was excited to find this one.
So not to sound like a fata** but I actually ended up going to this place twice because it was so good! The first day I had egg salad on a mini everything bagel. It was so delicious! My most favorite part about this place is that they offer mini bagels! The next day, I got a egg and cheese bagel and that bagel was HUGE and really appreciated the mini bagel from the day before.
I also got coffee both days which was really high quality, delicious coffee–highly recommended!
When I go back next time I will definitely get the egg salad bagel. The egg and cheese one was good but that egg salad was another level for me! And of course, I will have a cup of coffee!
Their mini bagel is the perfect size! The regular sized bagel is like the size of 3 bagels combined.
I prefer the cream cheese at Brooklyn Bagel, but NY Bagel definitely has better bagels. Not only is the size perfect, they are crispy on the exterior and chewy on the interior. They are just perfect!
The service is good and quick. There's always a line out the door on weekend mornings. The location is clean and has a good amount of tables. And it's located in the perfect area. Right on Broadway, not too far from the R/M trains.
I haven't had their more lunchy food, but have heard many good things and will definitely need to give it a try.
NYC Bagel and Coffee house is a nice place to study,
The have outlets at every table on the wall so you're plugged-in and charged. The baristas are really nice as well. You can order bagels, sandwiches and of course, coffee, and there also is a to-go area with cold drinks and snacks. I didn't test the wi-fi when I was there, but no one around me seemed to be complaining. The music here is a bit loud, so make sure you bring headphones if you're sensitive.
