I love coming here because it's super close to my apartment but also because they have a great selection of pastries, bagel sandwiches, smoothies, juices, and other snacks. Their bagels are way better than bagelsmith.
This one does better than the one on bedford and south second street and probably will do an okay job on your smoothie or green juice. Unlike the southside branch, they have never made me a totally disgusting watery drink here, but like the other place they have served me cups with an inch and a half of air and or foam at the top which makes me mad if i am paying for a large and they pour the equivalent of less than a small into the cup. USE THE FOAM SKIMMING LID ON THE PITCHER FOR PETES SAKE, THAT IS WHAT IT IS FOR!
For a much better green juice go to Tiny Empire or Organic Planet.
And of course do not come here for coffee or muffins. Dont be silly. Its like JFK terminal food. This is williamsburg, we have good food here. Go to Verb, or Oslo or el beit for a muffin and coffee.
I was intrigued by chicken poblano soup listed among their daily specials on their outside blackboard. The soup was a spicy creamed soup that I enjoyed. They had some good looking baked goods. I definitely would give them another try if I'm ever in the area again.
I was really excited to see the gluten free options that were recently added to the menu at New York Muffins! This is always a major plus, especially for an early morning bite. I believe this is one of the closest spots to the Bedford L where you can grab a quick GF breakfast!
Unfortunately, the GF sandwich bread was really dry and fell apart. It was a decent enough vehicle for the delicious turkey, cheese & avocado on the sandwich, but it was pretty awful on it's own (and made the sandwich a bit messy to eat).
While I wouldn't get that sandwich again, I definitely would come back to try some of their ofter gluten free choices. Next time I will try the GF muffins or some of their salad options, those seem like a bit safer bet!
I never thought that I would rate any establishment 2 stars, but I prove myself wrong! Did not found this place on yelp. We were just walking back to the car parking from the Brooklyn fair and decided to stop for coffee. Also took a Black Forest mousse cup and a scone with it. Coffee was ok, hence 2 stars. The Black Forest dessert was too dry and seemed like had been on the shelf for a long time. I think they should be paying patrons to eat that! Scone was also below average.
Not a bad spot right on Bedford Ave and close to the subway to make a quick pit stop for some caffeine and a snack.
The coffee was a bit strong and burnt tasting but I guess it was because it was later at night and they were not going to put a fresh pot on at that point. The marble crunch muffin was pretty good otherwise. Decent size with a nice crunchy crumbly top and a soft marbleized cake inside.
Decent amount of seating inside with a few patrons making use of the free wifi. Some bench seating on the sidewalk outside the front windows too. From what I saw they have some soups, teas, smoothies, juices, pastries, and lunch items. I guess it's ok if you live close by and aren't too picky.
I am mildly surprised that NY Muffins use Big Train mixes for their chai lattes. You can go up and down Bedford (against the ferocious Hudson winter winds), and I can guarantee you can't find any other place as chai-glorious.
Their green juice was not organic and their juices cost as much as One Lucky Duck, an organic, raw, vegan juice/smoothie stand in Chelsea Market.
