This place is ok ….. its an airport bar and grill, so I guess it ended up being exactly what I should have expected. I'd be lying though if I didn't admit that I've had much better in airports. Food was served luke warm … that included the fries and the sandwiches. Beer was good however, and they had a good selection. But beer is beer …. hard to really mess that up right?
With the above said, I thought the service here was pretty good. It was quick and responsive. So for that, I give them props.
Would I come here again? Not really sure. I wouldn't intentionally stay away from New York Sports Grill … but I would be far more likely to try one of the other offerings in the Jet Blue terminal first!
The reviews here are pretty weak even for airport food, but this place appears relatively safe meaning it probably won't kill you. Or, at least I hope so. I just ate and I don't feel nauseous yet…
The food itself is complete crap. The "Ceasar salad" I ordered included wilted, brown lettuce, a few croutons, and some Italian dressing. It was truly nasty. However, the Mac and Cheese was the worst I've had since I was five years old. Truly, this was lame Kraft-straight-from-the-box. They should be ashamed for A. Serving it and B. Charging money for it.
Avoid at all costs.
On the plus side, bringing this review from negative one to plus one star, they have a huge selection of beer on tap, a full bar and plenty of tv's to distract you from the food.
I was trying to decide on where to eat before my flight out of Terminal 5 and ultimately decided on New York Sports Grill. I figured I could grab a beer and watch some of the NFL draft.
The restaurant wasn't crowded at all and I was quickly seated. Started off with a 23oz Guinness. Beer selection was pretty good. I actually wanted a vanilla porter that was on the menu but they were out. Guinness is always good.
Ordered the tuna burger which came with a side of sweet potato fries. The only thing good about this meal was the chipotle mayo sauce. The tuna patty was small, the bread was really dry and the fries were not hot enough.
Unimpressive, pricey airport food here but with a really nice staff. I would probably only come back for the beers and TVs.
With a 3 hour lay over, we stopped in for an adult beverage. The staff were very professional and friendly and all had a good sense of humor the afternoon we stopped in. We picked a high top and the bar keep came right over with menus. We ordered our beverages and they arrived quickly.
Located in the American Airlines section of the International terminal at JFK, it's very convenient to the boarding gates. The music is loud, and after sitting there for a bit you can forget you are even at an airport. I did order a turkey hero and it was OK. One slice of turkey cold cut, lettuce, tomato on a roll. It comes with fries or salad. I picked salad which is served on the plate with the sandwich, dressing on the side. The food is definitely not the focus of this establishment, but if you want a bite, they can provide food to fill the whole in your stomach.
The tables are small, and close together. We stowed our carry-on bags under the table to keep them out of the way of staff. Not a place to spread out, but a nice place for a quick beverage and an email check between flights. I would stop in again.
The service and food are definitely lacking here. My friends and I had over an hour wait until we boarded our flight.
We were quickly seated, which was the only positive thing to note. A guy came over to take our beer selections……30 minutes later he FINALLY comes back with the beers that were flat and gross. He mentioned something was wrong with the tap, but for all of the various beers?
I ordered the sliced steak sandwich thinking it was a french dip where they serve a cup of au jus. Nope. The steak wasn't even shaved thinly. They were overcooked thick slices that were tough and chewy.
This place was an epic fail….do people even still say epic fail?
For humanity's sake, don't let management know, but I think airport restaurants didn't get the memo about inflation. We've always known that air terminal food pricing is artificially inflated, but I'll be damned if the cost of a burger ($13) at this everyday sports lounge doesn't just about equal the cost of an everyday sammie in the city. A $10 beer is, let's face it, just a smidge more than you'll pay at any NYC bar. It wasn't so long ago that airport dining ran double the same in the city, easy. Times have changed. (Let's not discuss salaries, here.)
If you're a dude or one of the lucky few females who know the joys of the National and College football season, this place will make you forget about your layover. There's nothing interesting on the menu, but you can go the healthy route with a Ceasar wrap or get sloppy with nachos and wings (avoid the Korean spiced). A decent spot to stare at, like, 30 televisions. Service was really shoddy. You know, it's an airport.
Great place to get good food at the airport so wort it and the service is fast and quick if you have a long wait in between flights. Having the alcohol is bonus when your flying for hours
Overpriced and meh food but if your priority is tons of TV screens playing multiple sports games and you're stuck at JFK airport then this is your spot
In terms of food you're better off just getting something from cibo express unless you're in need of a hot meal
—salmon burger: nothing special. Soft burger bun though!
—goat cheese cranberry and walnut salad: wasn't a huge fan of the dressing but I liked the goat cheese… Although it was not worth $14!!
NOTE: Service was a bit slow we didn't even know where to check in with hostess so we sat ourselves
