Huge selection of wine and spirits. What makes it even better is that it's in the basement of a cool building thus has a little more abiance that most liquor and its in NYC.
Whenwver i need something even if it is last minute they either have it or they can order it for you. Yeah, pricing is a bit on the expensive side but lets face this is manhattan and so you have to pay to get what you want. The staff is very knowledgeable.
A decent wine spot in the financial district. The one word of advice I can give is to not go by their website. They flat out admit the website is rarely updated so if there's something on there you want, call and double-check that they actually have it. Their staff could be a bit more knowledgeable but they do have managers on hand that seem to know their wine pretty well. Prices are fair and the delivery minimum is only $25 (which isn't difficult to hit if you order more than one bottle of wine). There is also no delivery fee for a good chunk of FiDi.
Placed an order for a bottle of whiskey on their website.
2 weeks went by, no delivery, no update. Still showing up as a pending charge on my credit card. Called up and asked about the status of the order. Told "oh we don't have that in stock anymore". Well, how do we go about getting this off my credit card? "Just cancel the order". How do I do that? "Just cancel it" I can't cancel the order – there's no account login on the website, I just placed the order – you have to cancel it in your system. "ok thank you [click]". Really? What kind of shady operation is this?
A month on and this is still showing up as a pending transaction. Pretty ridiculous.
After my interaction with the New York Wine Exchange today, I would caution anyone against doing business with them, at least online.
I placed an order through their website over two weeks ago, and as I had yet to receive any kind of order confirmation or indeed any communication from them of any kind, I called today to check the status of my order. When I made my inquiry I was told, rather dismissively, that if I hadn't received the wine yet it was because it was out of stock. The conversant was about to hang up right then and there, but I stopped him to press for more (annoying?) information such as "What about my payment?" and "Do you have anything similar in stock?" The exasperation continued, and though he had yet to pull up my order on his system he assured me that I had not been charged and that he had nothing similar to offer.
The entire interaction came off as unnecessarily rude, unhelpful and frankly a bit shady. I have alerted PayPal, and am busy confirming that the payment was never consummated. I can be an excellent wine customer, and I've never experienced this level of incompetence or rudeness before in 20+ years of buying wine.
Buyer beware.
Tons, I mean TONS of selection of wine to choose from. They also do some cute gift wrapping for the holiday season. Good sales as well. If you are looking to stock up for the holiday season and are in the neighborhood, I recommend stopping by New York Wine Exchange.
First off – apologies for not having reviewed you despite having lived in the hood for 4 years.
I can honestly say that you have never disappointed in being able to dig out what I am looking for (or at least give me a great alternative). Extensive selection from all over the world, awesome spirits for those Friday nights I want to create a new cocktail, and always ready with a smile from each of you working the store.
I know you deliver, but I can never bring myself to ask you to drop something over 2 buildings 🙂 An urban hunter must walk a little for his booze!
Hand's down the best all round liquor store downtown.
I come here a lot as I work next door. Always great to come here on a Friday and get a nice bottle of red.
The people are helpful and know their stuff when it comes to which wine you should get without pressuring you.
