  1. The food is ok. Meat is ok as well.

However, I feel the soup base not as tasty as its neighbor restaurants…

  2. I have to say I'm quite unimpressed with the Vietnamese food in NYC.  After a disappointing experience at Sao Mai, we figured a more "authentic" restaurant in Chinatown would be better.  I understand that the service in most Chinatown restaurants are fast-paced, but I really don't appreciate when two appetizers and bowls of Pho (which need to be eaten hot) are shoved in our faces within less than a minute of each other.  Slow it down, and let us at least enjoy half of our appetizers before our main entrees come!

We always start with an order of summer rolls and spring rolls.  The summer rolls were extremely bland and the spring rolls were fine but definitely not my favorite.  We thankfully did like the Pho (I had the medium beef + vegetables and the BF ordered the special).  Overall, I just didn't like it enough to come back.  I think I want to give Saigon Shack another try in the West Village.

  3. The pho is delicious and still a bargain at $7.00.  (Next door at Pastuer Grill was $11.50!) We also ordered the spring rolls but they were kind of mushy so that was disappointing.

    Three Stars

There are two pho places that are adjacent to each other in Chinatown by the court houses. Nha Trang Centre is on centre and Nha Trang One is on Baxter. I remember them because One serves its pho with lime and Centre serves it with lemon.

This place is simply less good. The place is smaller. The food was tasty but I prefer the other even if they use lemon. The broth was salty and sweet with plenty of MISG. The rice noodles were not bad. The meat was fine. It was tasty and filling meal but not a place I would recommend to others.

  5. I actually really liked their chicken pho!

Ended up inhaling the whole bowl and almost all of the soup. Paired with their lemonade, which wasn't too sweet 🙂

came during my jury duty lunch- figured I'll try a pho spot I haven't gone to before. I'm glad I did! Found a table easily at 12:30pm.

-1 star: avocado shake was on the menu but unavailable

  6. This is the much better Nha trang that I heard of! Forget about the other one – this place is like night and day. The pho and the spring rolls are very good here and the service and the prices are very good!

  7. Preface: I have an extensive history of Pho exploration. I have tried in every US city I have visited and in Vietnam where it originated. I've also tried it in France and Czech Republic as an accidental finding.

AMBIANCE: family owned restaurant with authentic Vietnamese speaking employees

LOCATION: street parking, okay to find, keep an eye out

SERVICE: not great, slow and inefficient

FOOD: I ordered a basic pho tai chin: brisket and round steak. Also got a sweet and sour soup with fish. The pho was very bland. One of the worse broths I've tried. The sweet and sour soup on the other was delicious and very authentic. It did not shy away from the lemongrass, which is the base of this soup.

PRICING: a good price for the poor quality of pho it has.

  8. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST. The Vietnamese food here is horrible; I honestly don't know how it is still open if they serve food like this. My family ordered a variety of dishes and each one was a disappointment. Not to mention they had the audacity to ask my mom for more tip money. What kind of place does that??
