“Food met our expectations but it was the music and the bartenders Adrian and Sequoia and the friendly locals who made this place special!”
“The bartender said they brought in their tap system from Ireland, so maybe that's the trick?”
“Right now the place is decorated so nicely for the holidays, it really is a warm, lovely pub.”

I go to Niall's to grab drinks with my co-workers for the convenience of the location. It is a very low key Irish pub. They have a backroom that has several booths and tables, so you could host a company event there (my company had a trivia night private event there before) or grab dinner with your friends there. Most people would stay in the bar area. A couple girls at my workplace used to come here to see the bartender Adrian, he's very nice and those girls think that he looks like Gilles Marini, the guy who is in the memorable scene in the Sex and the City movie (taking a shower outdoor, just google it). I personally don't think so, so I just come here to get reasonably priced drinks and food. I had the shepherd pie and fish & chips here before, they are not great, but good for bar food. They also have a couple TVs showing sports game at this place, so you could watch some sports with the boys while you are here. It's a bar in midtown, so you see business people stopping by all the time. One time, I was here, this guy in suit and tie got so drunk that he fell off his chair (I don't know the point of including this in the review, but for some reasons, that scene is stuck in my head :)). The bathroom is at the basement level, so you would have to navigate to that level by walking down a steep long set of stairs, so be careful when you are walking down tipsy, you could easily fall!
A friend of mine living in NY took us to this place and we had some of the best wings I've ever ate. It makes me want to move to NY and eat these things up everyday. The service was also good with friendly staff. I'd recommend checking this place out if you're looking for delicious wings.
Pretty basic Irish pub in midtown to grab a pint during happy hour.
Kind of a narrow bar area to sit at and have people constantly walk by and bump into you.
Some flat screens with the game or ESPN on. Dark woodsy look, dim lighting, looks like it took a page out of the "build a generic Irish pub in NYC' handbook.
The standard Irish pub beer on tap in this kind of spot – Guinness, Harp, Blue Moon, Goose Island, Killians, etc. They serve food too which seems to get decent reviews from others here. Maybe next time as I just had a nice cold pint on my visit.
Lots of collared preppy bro's talking about dumb stuff before they head back to their bridge and tunnel lives in the burbs.
For a midtown bar in a lame part of the city it's not too bad.
Just a heads-up: Niall's does a fabulous job at catering office events! 'Nothing but rave reviews from my entire department.
It really hurts me to give this place a 2 because we had a nice evening but… OK, I'll give it a 3 but….
We were in the city for business and instead of braving rush hour traffic to go home, we decided to find a place with comfort food for dinner. Niall's was highly recommended by Yelp with a 4 star average and it was only a block from the garage where we put our car.
Overall, we experienced a very pleasant evening. We sat at a table by the front window and enjoyed the people watching view. We weren't rushed and had enough to eat to make us happy.
However, the quality of the food was really very so-so at best. We ordered the Nacho Grande for starters. The dish is nicely plated and visually pretty. The order is a decent size. It's not too small and not too large. It was pretty tasty except that it wasn't hot. I found that very curious since the dish contained melted cheese. My educated guess is that it was prepared in advance, hopefully not for someone else, and not kept hot.
My wife had a salad with grilled chicken and said it was good. I ordered the vegetable panini and it came out served on toasted white bread. Extremely curious but it actually tasted good with just the right amount of grilled veggies and goat cheese. However, it had to be the ugliest presentation of a sandwich ever.
It was also $0.50 wing night so we ordered a few wings with BBQ sauce. Both the BBQ sauce and the accompanying blue cheese dressing which I think was spiced up were excellent. The wings were super-tiny and I wouldn't order them again. However, the BBQ sauce was so good that I would ask for a side of that and put it on everything. Perfect combo of sweet, hot, and smoky.
Our server was pleasant and tried to be very helpful. I guess I should have questioned both the nachos and my alleged panini.
The bathrooms are downstairs and at first glance seemed horrible (uninviting door, narrow space, old appearance) but was actually very clean.
Despite all the food issues, we left feeling like we had a decent casual meal of comfort food. I was just a little disappointed because of all the high ratings for this place. I might give them another shot if I was similarly situated again but would be hard pressed to recommend this place to friends.
If I hadn't looked on Yelp to find something to eat in the area, I never would have known that this Irish Pub had such an amazing menu! They had an extensive menu of upscale bar food available and restaurant seating in the very back. It was really hard to choose what to order. I ended up getting the chicken pot pie (per Yelpers' recs) and thought it was delicious. First of all, it was bigger than I expected. The crust was light and the filling was creamy and hearty. Yum! I would definitely go back to try other things on the menu!
As a final stop in our St. Patrick's Day celebration, Niall's was A-OK!
Per my request since I had never had one before, we started out with shots of Baileys and Jameson dropped and then drunk quickly from half pints of Guinness. Because we had just eaten dinner, these were sort of like dessert, and tasty at that. We then continued with a final round of lighter pints and shots of Jameson before heading home.
Happy St. Paddy's Day!
Considering its unfortunate location, Niall's is far from terrible.
We recently came here after work since a friend works in the area. Narrow-ish bar with a decent number of seats, along with some tables in the front and in the back. Typical Irish pub beer to choose from. Lots of bros feeling the need to YELL to have a conversation. TVs scattered around, most showing ESPN. Okay bartenders…Mine was nice but took a bit too long to get my change (which I mean isn't really a big deal but come on).
Overall, not a bad spot and most definitely better than some of the bars it is surrounded by in this part of town.
