Lovely decor and awesome pizza pies!
My party and I was here for a late dinner and boy, we had to wait 20 minutes even when it was an hour and half before closing time. It is quite busy in here! We sat down and went straight to ordering.
We got a white pie – half mozzarella an half ricotta with pepperoni and sausage toppings. It came topped with a bit of basil on top for the finish touch. I personally really like the pizza dough here. It was light, fluffy, and tasty. I ate two whole slices without leaving a crumb. Delicious! Sausage topping was really good topping on the pizza, it was flavorful. Fresh mozzarella was really amazing! I loved how far I could pull the cheese! Ricotta was creamy and good quality, even though it's not my favorite part of it.
I would say this would make a good friends hang out spot!
We split a small calzone for two people, and it was perfect for what we needed; if we had been having dinner, I think a large calzone would have been better. As it was, that was the perfect size to not leave us in a coma for the rest of the day. High quality, friendly service, and family friendly. Can't ask for much more.
Solid "gourmet" pizza spot complementing the more "casual" A&Js in the hood. Bright spacious seating with old school charm and service. A large pie can feed 2-3. Additional toppings are a bit pricey but they're great quality. I'd recommend half mozzarella half prosciutto. Throw in a Special Salad in there for greens and you're set.
Nick's Pizza is a great place for pizza-date. This semi-casual pizzeria is busy on Friday nights- esp. around 8pm.
Their pizza is thin crust, heavy with toppings and charred by brick oven. Delicious. Best pizza you can get in Forest Hills.
*Food*
We ordered a mozzarella and tomato salad (caprese salad). The soft pillowy mozzarella was fresh. The tomato, not being seasonal, was a little bland.
We had a large pizza pie. Half the pie had sweet peppers and prosciutto and the other half had broccoli rabe and sausage. This was so delicious! Crunchy thin crust filled with juicy sausage and chopped bitter-sweet broccoli rabe on a sweet tomato sauce. The mozzarella was hot and stringy. K's half had juicy sweet peppers and a few slices of the proscuitto. K's reaction was 'Ohhhh This is Good!'
I definitely enjoyed the broccoli rabe and sausage better.
*Environment*
I loved their floor to ceiling window and their Danish mid century leather chairs. I loved the comfy green booth even more. Wash your hair and blow it out before you come here. (Unlike me!) Unless you don't mind feeling a little under preened compared to some well heeled women and their families. (I spotted a Chanel bag or two). And be prepared to have other women size you up (like cats). They aren't shy about it.
Still have lots o' love for Nick's!
We were coming back from Long Island and hit traffic by St. John's University. We were hungry and it was lunch time so we decided to head over to Forest Hills for something to eat. My girls are super picky eaters and pizza is always a favorite so we went to Nick's.
We had:
– Caesar Salad – delicious, great mixture of dressing and anchovy
– Small pizza with meatballs – my girls inhaled it
– Large pizza, half white, half regular with prosciutto and olives – the white was creamy deliciousness. The red was terrific.
The service was fast and friendly. The bathroom is super clean. We still love this place!!!
Gourmet pizza and you don't want to go out into the city to Little Italy? This is the place to go in Forest Hills. It's good. They don't skim on the toppings. Worth it.
I've ordered delivery from Nick's Pizza a few times in the past but dined-in for the very first time last night. I will state the obvious and say that while I've always been impressed with the delivery, the pizza is 10 times better fresh and straight out of the oven!
This restaurant was very busy even on a Monday night. The interior is very charming. Trendy with an old-world feel to it. Perfect for date night or to catch up with an intimate group of friends.
After looking through the menu, the husband and I decided to order the large red pizza with half pepperoni and half sausage. It costs $17.50 with no toppings but does come with a sprinkle of fresh basil. Toppings cost extra (prices varies depending on what you choose) and you can order toppings on half pie for half the price. Pizzas are NOT sold by slices!
Our pipin' hot pie came out in less than 10 minutes. Everything about it was absolute perfection from the tangy tomato sauce to the crunchy, yet fluffy crust. No sogginess here! And they were generous with the toppings. We had an awesome dinner and even had leftovers for the next day which we thoroughly enjoyed.
Service was very good as our waitress was very pleasant, sweet, and attentive. Prices are fair considering the quality as well as location. Two thumbs up!
JUST GO! You wont regret it!!!
Quality fresh mozzarella cheese, thick pepperoni slices, and plentiful toppings.
Might be a long wait if busy day, but can also get seated quickly.
House special salad is recommended too!!!
The only downsides are that some of the seating arrangements are cramped if youre seated in the middle and that sometimes they burn the bottom of the slices…. However some people dont mind it… I dont like it so I just took the whole bottom off.
Credit cards accepted.
Tad bit expensive, but worth your visit!
