  1. I've been to Nighthawks a couple of times. The ambiance of the restaurant, the food, the music and staff are all amazing. Last time I came here, my friend and I ordered a few appetizers to share. We had fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms and baked cheese. We loved all the appetizers and really liked how the cheese was flamed right at the table. That was pretty cool to watch.  I ordered the dover sole and really loved the presentation of the dish. The fish was cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the stuffed salmon and he really liked it. For dessert I had greek organic yoghurt with honey and some berries. It was delicious.

Food: Excellent. Served in a perfect pace. I never felt rushed.
Decor: French bistro style. Feels a bit like Pastis used to feel except this place is smaller, more intimate. I love the lighting. Lots of candles. Interior design is very well thought out. Very comfortable seats. I love the display with seafood on ice.
Music: Ambient music. Just perfect for the setting.
Staff: Really on top of its game. Everybody is caring, dedicated and professional.

All in all this place is a winner. I can't wait to go back. : )

  2. Nighthawks is a classic american painting that you can see at the Art institute of Chicago for $30 (approximate). but if you are not in chicago, you can eat at this nostalgic spot and get a nice entree for that price. on this random tuesday, there weren't  too many other customers. pretty much just our table. it features a nice long bar and several comfy tables with oversized chairs and padded lounge seats on the inner portion of the tables. the menu is heavily weighted towards seafood but it's an Italian/Mediterranean centric place. We ordered the lamb meatballs to start. quite tasty and liked the fact that it came with a small side salad. nice touch. for the entree, I ordered the stuffed salmon. pretty solid dish here too. service was excellent. the wait staff kept coming around to fill our water glasses even when were we done and just chatting some more. at one point there was some korean pop music playing. kinda of reminded me of when I was back in college. but that's what nostalgia is right? the candle light dining and attentive service makes this a suitable place for meeting up with friends or for a date.

  3. I've only ever had delivery from Nighthawks – and it's always the same thing: the stuffed salmon.

It's delicious and the delivery is prompt.

I really should get off my behind and head down to the actual establishment.

  4. The stuffed Salmon was the bomb.  Highly recommended.  The place is cool inside and has a nice feel.  It had a brasserie sort of vibe and seemed European.

The service was good the entire time.

There was a little confusion on the ordering.  I had a groupon and let it be know that I had one.  The total for the groupon was $60, so I ordered two lunch specials at $19 each and then got the salmon for $22, an even $60.  The lunch specials come with a drink and an app.  After ordering a latte and two apps, those items were brought and we were told that we can't do the lunch special and use the groupon…  Um, if that is the case, I wouldn't have ordered $15 (or so, I don't remember the exact amount) in apps if it wasn't a part of the lunch special.  I would rather have a burger and fries for $15 instead of eggplant and a side salad.

The food was 4 stars.  I would have given 5 stars b/c of the groupon offering, but with the way it was handled, I thought it was a little sketchy.  Everyone was polite and I didn't want to make an issue or a scene, so I just let it go and did my best to enjoy the meal, the company, and the experience.

If I had a groupon, I would go back and order with the knowledge of what I can and can't order by using it

  5. Searching for places with a decent happy hour for lunch; Nighthawks came up with good drink specials and moderately priced food. Practically no one inside for Thursday lunch so got a seat at the bar and looked over the menu.

What I actually ordered: Mediterranean Wrap ($11) and a glass of happy hour Cabernet ($5). The item that was served to me was the Lobster Wrap – considering I was hungry, didn't want to wait for them to make the correct dish. Lobster was okay, felt a little chewy (maybe was frozen) – the Chipotle mayo was good and the mixed salad is a good side. Thankfully, they did not charge me for the higher priced food.

Service here is up and down; friendly staff but they all seemed to go away at random moments, leaving no one at the bar. I really do like the happy hour, and you get free warm bread to boot, so will try to come back.

  6. Came here for date night with my guy on a gorgeous Saturday summer night. We purchased a Pulsd deal which was 2 entrees and a bottle of wine and we were suuuuper excited to get tipsy and eat seafood.

The place is really cute- high ceilings, very dim/soft lighting, not super loud, wood & greenery, with great big windows for people watching. The service was excellent from the moment we walked in and I swear they literally topped off our wine glasses every 5 minutes to keep us drankin and happy. Only complaints (small) is that it was super super warm in the restaurant – no AC to be found. Normally fine but on a hot, humid Nyc night it was a little gross to sweat while eating. But I digress. Lol.

The food and wine was good! We got a great bottle of Chardonnay. We split the grilled octopus appetizer. For entrees we split a big steak and a big piece of crab-stuffed salmon, both of which came with similar sides- potatoes and roasted veggies. Everything was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked, and, most importantly, delicious!

We really enjoyed our fancy little date night (we kinda dressed up to be fun and it works for this place, as does casual. Nice to be able to get away with both). The prices for all the food = extremely reasonable. Usually seafood and steak will run you a pretty penny but this place is totally doable for a lovely dinner in a fun neighborhood.

Check it out for date night, small groups, or even a cool place to bring your folks.

  7. A few months ago this opened as Classic Cafe but has been renamed Nighthawks and the menu had an expansion. It seems to be working as the place is getting busier and as an interested party (living a stone's throw away) I must say I'm quite happy that this could turn into a neighborhood gem.

It's well made, belly filling, heart warming food. I'd call it cozy food with cozy decor. And very friendly service.

A+ for the lamb meatballs, cavatelli with chicken and broccoli rabe (finally a pasta that's fully loaded with veggies but not with sauce yet full of flavor), truffle risotto, and rigatoni sugo.

There's a Mediterranean flair to the menu so don't skip out on the pita and dips.
