  1. My new favorite Indian place in the neighborhood.  Love the eggplant chaat!  Have taken a few people here and all loved it too.  So happy I can order from them any time!

  2. I continually bemoan the dearth of really good Indian restaurants in Brooklyn, so am thrilled to have discovered Nimbooda!

The food is delicious. Fresh ingredients, prepared with care and the flavors are sophisticated and just damn good. I was there last night with my family and we had such an enjoyable time.  First, all the appetizers sounded so enticing we couldn't decide so ordered many. Many. Too many. We had the cauliflower, which was spicy and sweet and lightly breaded and probably the best thing I ate all night. Also the eggplant chaat which gave me some new idea for how to cook eggplant, veg samosas and bhujia, which were the best I've ever had. Usually bhujia – onion chick pea fritters – are dense and starchy. These were light and well balanced and just, well, delicious.

The mains were just as good. I had Saag Paneer, which was delicately nutty and creamy. My sister had okra which was flavored with something we couldn't quite identify but made us keep eating to figure out. Usually okra is cooked to a mush but this wasn't – they had some chew and snap. If you like okra you'd enjoy this dish. My mom had salmon in a mustard curry that she said was tops. The only downside is that we ate so many apps, had no room for mains!

    But we kept eating anyway.

The atmosphere is lovely and comfortable. The service is fantastic. Unobtrusive but attentive. Plus it's in my nabe – no question I'll be back!

A quick note to say that it is BYOB – but I didn't miss the alcohol as my mango lassi was perfect – not too sweet and bursting the with mango flavor.
