  1. 3 to 3.5 stars.

I used to order delivery from this place regularly, but not so much anymore. Like many Thai places in NYC, Nine-D places an emphasis on flavors but ignores cooking temperatures and textures. All proteins usually end up overcooked and chewy. It's also not spicy enough. The beef pad see ew is an exception.

I like the soups and most of the appetizers (curry puff, dumplings, salads, etc). Portion sizes are a bit small for the price you pay, and you have to pay extra for rice. However, delivery is very quick and efficient. As long as you order the right dishes, it's perfectly acceptable delivery.

  2. I had been here before and didn't remember it being memorable, but since my favorite local thai place has closed I thought I would give it another shot.

The atmosphere bears a good alternative to the loud clubby thai spots in the neighborhood. They were playing music the likes of Jack Johnson and there was only 1 other party seated in the whole restaurant (it was a weeknight) so needless to say it was pretty quiet.

The food was just fine; but the portions were small, cost more and rice needed to be purchased in addition to your entrée, which I think is pretty lame considering it is usually standard to give rice with a stir fry or curry dish. I was hoping I wouldn't need the rice,  but since the portion was small it was necessary.

For appetizer we had the green papaya salad (nice spice, but tiny) and crab dumplings. Each were $6 and there were only 4 dumplings in an order. The pad thai was acceptable, but tasted 'burnt' to me. The pineapple curry fared best on presentation since it was served inside a pineapple. It was tasty but not spicy enough, considering it was labeled as such. Unfortunately it really lacked veggies, all there was were shrimp, a lot of pineapple (which I hope came from the pineapple I was eating out of, but I couldn't help but be suspicious that it came out of a can…) and a few bamboo shoots. Considering I had to buy the rice and then there were no veggies made me feel like this was an unbalanced, incomplete meal.  I was happy I ordered the salad.

Overall, I wouldn't go back. It's just not worth the money because the portions are small and the food doesn't impress me.

  3. It's in the neighborhood, and it's okay.

Food here is average, I really don't think there was anything remarkable. It's not bad, it's not amazing. Although I have to comment on how much oil had been on the noodle dishes, because it was pretty gross. Way too much oil!

Flavors aren't bad, cost is fair, and service is usually pretty quick.

If you want Thai, and you live nearby, it's worth a shot.

  4. Let me tell you a little something about Nine-D. . .it's never wrong.  Service is on point, the food is always yummy, presentation gets an 'A'.  I rarely ever order the same thing twice at restaurant because I like to try it ALL but the fish curry has me hooked for now.  I mean crispy pieces of red snapper in a spicy curry sauce!! YES PLEASE AND THANK YOU.
