Just moved into this neighborhood so of course I've been trying different kinds of Roti. This place is pretty run down, lowkey, nothing fancy. Cash only. First time I went u got a curries beef Roti. Was honestly so flavorful and the meat was nice and tender. Came back and got chicken expecting it to be comparable, but it was totally different. The filling was just really bland and there were no substantial pieces of meat. Bit disappointed. Came back again for the curry beef and it was tasty but the sandwich was a lot smaller than previous times. I guess just inconsistency so take your chances.
I've had doubles all over this town, from places like A&A, Atma's (née Annie's), Singh's, Ali's, etc. Unfortunately, the doubles at Trinidad roti Shop are probably the most mediocre ones I've had. The bara (fried bread) wasn't so fresh, the chickpea curry was a bit on the sweet side and not very warm, the tamarind not so tangy. But the peppa sauce was a-ok. A doubles is like pizza or sex – even when it's bad, it's still alright.
The steam table offerings looked tired. At least they had on some reggae and some dudes drinking Red Stripe. And a nice mural outside.
