“While "No. 1 Chinese Restaurant" may be a bit of an exaggeration, it is good to go to a Chinese restaurant that is not called "Lucky Chinese," "Happy Kitchen," or "King Egg Roll."”
“A few misses on occasion (the dumplings are frozen-supermarket quality), but the General Tsos, lo mein, wonton soup, and all your basics, are excellent.”

There must be HUNDREDS of Chinese spots in this city, and the #1 Chinese Restaurant is right here in Fort Greene?! Man, we are lucky.
False advertising aside, this is your average Americanized Chinese joint. You know, one of the places where the General Tso's chicken and the sesame chicken will hit the same greasy, sugary spot (perhaps because they are exactly the same, except for a few sesame seeds scattered over one of them).
It's where they throw in lo mein or fried rice with your meal and it still only costs about $7-$8. It's where the dumplings are greasy and satisfying, but if you get it delivered chances are even the fried ones taste steamed after soggifying* inside the styrofoam.
This is the kind of joint you know you shouldn't order from for various reasons, but you'll probably do it again next time you get the same exact craving. And you'll regret it about a 1/2 hour later, just like always.

*Totally a word.
Super lightening fast delivery. No sooner did I click confirm on Seamless, did they come knocking on my door. Helps when one is starving!
The food was so-so. I got the healthy/diet special and it fit the bill. Good option if you need something fast…
A Chinese food to solve the worst hangover! They are the quickest Seamless delivery place we have found around. The food is typical delivery Chinese food, greasy and salty and delicious, so nothing too unexpected there. Prices are inexpensive. They're in the process of moving to a new location in the area so hopefully the customer service stays great!
It was within walking distance from my workplace. I needed a quick snack so I ordered fried green plantains with ketchup and bbq sauce for $3. I liked that I was able to douse my own food with the two sauces, which is not often the case. Too small for dining in, so stick to take-out.
It's raining outside and I'm working from home. Chinese is in order!
I placed an order online for the Shrimp & Scallops with Garlic Sauce Lunch Combination. It arrives like 10 minutes late which, I guess, is excusable in this weather. I open my dish and inside is a pile of broccoli and celery. Where's my shrimp and scallops??
Poke, Poke.
There they are. 1 shrimp and 2 very sad scallops. I guess they are very minimal and literal about their menu. Prooooobably not worth the $8. Will not be ordering from here again.
Meh.
No. 1 Chinese Restaurant, it may be an exaggeration for Chinese food but when you're looking for your greasy Americanized corner Chinese restaurant, this place is definitely number one in this neighborhood. Their delivery is freaky fast, their portions are enormous, their prices are reasonable, and they can actually deliver up decent food. Having made the rounds around the various Chinese restaurants, I think we've settled on this restaurant at work. As always, stick to your standard americanized fare, try anything else and prepare to be disappointed.
In need of some cheap Chinese food that will get the job done? Look no further.
While "No. 1 Chinese Restaurant" may be a bit of an exaggeration, it is good to go to a Chinese restaurant that is not called "Lucky Chinese," "Happy Kitchen," or "King Egg Roll."
I ordered my food quickly VIA mobile app (they take orders from Seamless, Grub Hub, etc) and walked my merry way .3 miles from my school to here. It was a lovely day, and I figured that .6 miles round-trip would burn off all the calories I was about to consume… Right? Math was never my specialty, but let's just say I am right.
The lady behind the counter greeted me with a smile and a friendly "Hiiiiiii!" as I came in, the staff was friendly too. Atmosphere was standard for a NYC Chinese to-go place, cant expect too much.
I got spicy tofu and vegetable fried rice, walked back to my school and enjoyed the twenty-billion mg's of sodium before me. Totally worth pee'ing dry salt for a week and a half.
You'll get your money's worth. The portions are good sized and the prices reasonably cheap. Ordered to my hotel, they made me go down to the lobby and were cash only. I also was given no receipt. I was told it would take 25 minutes for delivery but it took double that. The food was great though. The scallion pancakes were so detectable with the creamy gravy. The veggie egg rolls were crisp and hot. Everything was good except the steamed veggie dumplings, they were pretty bland. If you order a drink it will be a can, fyi. I would order again if in the area.
