It's been so long since I've had good Chinese food delivered to my home (or more to the point the home I'm staying in)! It was as rainy Monday night in NYC. We discussed going out but decided to order in. We found No-1 Chinese Restaurant with the help of YELP! It did take a close to an hour for delivery but on rainy Mondays in NYC it's to be expected.
The order:
Cold Sesame Noodles – I had a HUGE craving for this. Perfect! Fresh noodles with the perfect ratio of peanut sauce with julienned cucumbers and hot oil on the side.
Scallion Pancake – Fried crispy not greasy with sweet soy sauce for dipping.
Fried Dumplings – Crispy dense dough pockets filled with pork. Great!
1/2 Grill Duck – I'm not sure why they informed it had bones as most ducks have bones. It was a-ok! Not overly lacquered but tasty.
White Rice – because it's Chinese food the law is there must be rice. We didn't eat it so it will be used by my friend for lunch or dinner. Just another bonus of delivery food.
As I'm not a local any more I won't be ordering anytime soon but my friend and her daughter have a new Chinese deliver joint.
Vile, greasy 'food'. No, just no.
Ordered off of seamless for a light lunch and got the Dumpling Szechwan Style and an egg roll. It came 10m later than the estimate but whatever.
The egg roll was so greasy I had to use several napkins to pat it down. Once I did that it was edible.
The Dumplings where the greasy mess in the bottom of a bowl and were all stuck together. It was impossible to eat one and they had to be cut up. On my last one I got this hard inedible piece of what was supposed to be pork and spit the rest out.
Revolting excuse for Chinese food. Avoid at all costs.
So some of the other reviews are pretty accurate on the mentioned descriptive word – Greasy. Yes, that it is. BEWARE Patrons with HIGH Cholesterol, Enter At Your Own Risk!
But aside from that, it is just so damn good. Defintely that spot you go to before or after a night of drinking.
The Roast Pork and Beef Lo Mein, excellent; Beef w/Broccoli, yes a must, General Tso's, so so; Egg Rolls, a must have.
It's a bit pricey but definitely leaving with a full belly.
Not a big fan of American Chinese.. But a few colleagues wanted to check out this place. While the restaurant looks a bit shady from the outside, it's actually quite nice inside.
They have ample seating and at around 12:30 pm on Monday, they weren't that busy. The 5 of us were seated as soon as we got here.
We ordered from their combination menu.. Rice, entrée and a spring roll, egg roll or vegetable roll.
I ordered the Shredded Chicken with Garlic Sauce ($13) with Pork Fried Rice and Egg Roll. The food was just mediocre. Didn't have any taste and definitely couldn't taste any garlic in my sauce. The egg roll was absolutely disgusting and I couldn't even finish it…
Service was quick and our food arrived quickly.
Try it if you like American Chinese food. Not a fan at all.. Of the food or this place…
I did end up ordering again. Was terrible both times. What happened? Please go back to your previous chef, we have so few options here in FiDi.
I've been ordering from Seamless trying to find the best Chinese food in the Financial District (I don't get out much). So when it was this restaurant's time, I was prepared. I ordered sesame chicken, which came with fried rice and an egg roll for $14. Yes, much more expensive than other places, seeing that combos generally cost less than $10. But I was hungry, and it smelled divine. Came very quickly, and although the rice was a bit dry, the sesame chicken was awesome.
So far, best Chinese food in FiDi that I've found.
One of my better Chinese encounters in a while. Delivery in 15 minutes and a great wonton soup. Shrimp and garlic sauce is on point, I will definitely return.
This is a sit down Chinese restaurant with waiter service that serves Chinese takeout quality food. However, it is above average quality. The food actually tasted pretty fresh. The pork fried rice for example tasted like it was just made. I also tried their twice cooked pork and beef with broccoli, which were both tasty and fresh. They have these combination deals with an entree, fried rice, and a soup, egg roll, or soda for $12. That is a bit pricier than a takeout place, but the portion was much larger and as stated, better quality. This is a good place to get your fix of General Tso's chicken, lo mein, etc.
