Let's talk about all of the reasons this place should be called No 5 for the impeccable 5 star food and service that is received!
1. Decor!!!! It looks like you stepped into another era. There are vinyl records and the chairs look like a modernized version of diner booths. It's so intimate and cozy that you want to just lounge there for hours. The hippie wall paper definitely makes you feel like you are tripping on some drug which after the food coma you will get…transcends you to another dimension. Not to mention the very cute and sweet little mice or porcupine candles (my husband and I couldn't decide which it was).
2. All sparkly wine cocktails!!!!! I am not a cocktail girl but I do love my vino and my favorite of them all is the sparkly! I had the blushing bride cocktail which certainly made me feel like a blushing bride. It had grenadine which gave it a good amount of sweet. The drink is also only $8!
3. Our four mini sliders were so delicious! Originally I thought it was so much food but I actually ate it all up! I had the quinoa sliders which came with a selection of gourmet cheeses, I chose Brie since the server recommended it with the meal. The burgers came with salad, three organic sauces: mayo, mustard, ketchup, and fries! We had all that for $14!
4. It was great to see how much attention to detail was shown even in the way the napkins were wrapped in paper with twine. The owner told us about the establishment starting off a food truck that is also part of the salon it is next to and told us the restaurant's food is made in the food truck a very cool concept! On weekends there are rotating DJs that play deep house. The restaurant can also become an event space as the wall separating the salon and the restaurant moves aside! Super cool!
I will definitely be back ASAP! So glad I tried it and best part is it is in my Astoria hood! Finally a good restaurant near the movie theater with organic food!!
Decided to give this place at try after seeing it's new to the neighborhood. It's a hidden place in Astoria on the corner of 37th street..
The decor of the place is really nice.. They have a bunch of shelves with books and old type writers. The small tv they have is pretty cool.. looks like a tv from the 80s lol and they play black and white movies on it.. The space is small which was a bit of a shock because from the pictures it seemed a lot bigger.. The seats are modern loveseats and between that and the size of the tables it's pretty tight inside..
For starters I got the dates & bacon which were pretty simple but this is the first time I've seen a cherry tomato on top which was interesting.
For entree I got the ABF SKIRT STEAK.. It was cooked perfectly with the roasted bell peppers, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms and chipotle sauce on the country bread.. It all went perfect together.
The biggest plus for me about this place is that everything is Organic..
SO glad we found this place while out for a run one evening. I remember hearing about it before, but not remembering where it was located. If this was any closer to the main streets, it'd probably be crazy packed.
They have the cutest decor inside and outside. Would've loved to dine inside, but it was an incredible evening out so we sat outside.
I love that they have so many options that are organic, antibiotic & hormone free. The prices are outstanding and you would never be able to find that quality of food for the same great price that they have at No5.
I shared the red lentil & shrimp salad and the proscuitto & fig tartine with my friend. It was the perfect amount of food for us. The red cabbage was fresh & crisp. I loved the red lentil. It was cooked perfectly and very filling. Shrimp was seasoned just right and were a good size.
They also deliver between Broadway & 39th Ave/Northern Blvd & Crescent to 50th Street!
