  1. Warmish evening with thunderstorms and a threat of a tornado kind of night. Perfect for a visit to NOBO.

Seven ladies ready for some cocktails, great food and convo. We were promptly given a nice corner table where we could still be seen but be chatty without disruption.

Chef Josh, definitely has a vast knowledge of food and is a true lover of said food. His take on each dish we ordered was fairly spot on in flavor and execution minus one or two but I digress. He even brought out a sample of his turnip green stems kimchi and that was out of this world!  Very much like how I make it at home and was very authentic in flavor and texture. You need to have it as a side on your menu chef asap!

We ordered all the hot appetizers on the menu plus the 3 evening special appetizers they were features on top of that. Stand outs were the creamy carrot and parsnip puree soup: not a stop of dairy or non dairy creamy in it and it was velvety and luscious; the crispy sautéed sweet breads were melt in your mouth delicious; the seasonal risotto with mushrooms with a hint of truffle oil was cooked to an al dente perfection and rich in texture; the BBLT beef cheeks had a nice crunchy exterior and a beautiful soft interior accompanied perfectly with the stewed gigantic broad beans; the beef tongue was again perfectly executed with a nice bite; homemade spaetzle were soft tiny pillows of deliciousness; lamb riblets were fantastic fall off the bone and still gamey where you knew it was lamb and not some sorry piece of beef rib;  the evening special eggs and "ham" was phenomenal, the combo bite of toast, poached egg, "ham" and a bit of the frisee was a perfect bite. The one disappointing dish was the short rib bokembap: it tasted more like Japanese hibachi style fried rice than the korean pan fried rice. The dish was a bit on the salty side and too heavy handed in the flavoring dept.

For entree everyone chose their own. On order were a couple of steaks, salads,  their signature burger and their fish of the day, all delicious and brought out at perfect temperatures.  We learned that the fish is flown to the restaurant no more than 36 hours from when they are caught from sustainable sources. Love that chef is very much into seasonal and sustainable conscious sourcing of his ingredients.

We also ordered all desserts that were on their dessert  menu. Stand outs were the peanut butter chocolate cake; apple fritters with a vanilla ice cream cream soda float; and apple crumble.

A great night of amazing convo with some kickass women topped with fantastic food and wine!
