  1. Absolutely loved this place. Its adorable with animated people speaking different languages, from different cultures. It's a melting pot and I love it. The pastries are divine and the orange juice freshly made in front of your eyes. Their chocolate mousse is my favorite thing on the menu because it's not too sweet. Every pastries I've had has been delicious, served with a smile. It's a staple in Astoria.

  2. Meh.

Yes, once St Honore closed its doors on Ditmars, Astoria was left with no French bakeries. However, my visit a few days ago was completely forgettable. Granted, my gf and I came in for a snack, not pastries. Aside from tiny croissant pizza squares they have, which were decent and our croissants, which were decent as well, this place doesn't have much going for itself. Maybe the pastries are good? I couldn't tell you. Weak drink selection. Seating isn't too welcoming or comfortable. Plus, the waitresses are as dumb as a box of rocks.

Want a good French patisserie? Take the short car ride/bus ride to Cannelle Patisserie in Jackson Heights. It blows this place out the water.

  3. This review is only for a takeout order of their cream puffs. They looked so delicious from outside that I had to have some. I brought them home and ended up throwing them away because they were stale and lackluster. The bread was old and the cream was an unsweetened paste. I can't speak to anything else, but definitely don't order the cream puffs. The inside looked nice and has a relaxed atmosphere for a quick drink and pastry.

  4. Creme brulee was good but the burnt sugar softens when it sits out. I had a nice latte with an almond tart. Also got a caramel Napoleon, and chocolate mousse, both were nice and not too sweet. An ok place for desserts.

  5. This french pastry shop is so out of place on Steinway but who knows, maybe it will work because the neighborhood has no other European pastry shop.  Since they've opened I've tried their macrons, strawberry shortcake, and chocolate croissant.

The macrons are decent but definitely not up to the caliber of Laduree, on the bright side they are only $1.50 each.  The strawberry shortcake was nothing I was expecting.  Instead of a light, slightly sweet cake, it was the exact opposite.  Don't get me wrong, it was good but just a little bit on the denser, sweeter side.  The chocolate croissant was a huge disappointment.  They literally only squeezed a line of chocolate into that large croissant, they could have done a much better job of filling it with nutella.  Overall, not a bad place but nothing I would run to.

  6. I truly wish there were more French bakeries in Astoria.
I lived in Paris for some time and this is about as close as it gets in the area.
Are there more authentic in NYC, sure. But why get on the train?!
This is a fantastic bakery with a good selection of pastries.
I wanted to ask the pastry chef a question but I don't think he spoke English or French. It's Moroccan operated so maybe he did speak French and I didn't catch him in time.
The macaroons were pretty nice in flavor and texture and cannot find one similar without going downtown, so in the end, I'm happy.
It's a cute spot and I will be back for a croissant and espresso one morning soon.
