8.95 cash only lunch special which is hard to beat.
Small space but there was enough room at the bar for our party.
Food-wise, I would rate this 3-stars. Nothing bad with the food but the flavor is slightly underwhelming and not very memorable. As others said, this can't be compared to what you would be able to find at Chinatown (both in Manhattan/Queens). But for a quick work lunch this is fine.
Service was friendly with some missteps in taking the order (did not ask me what meat I wanted, and then when I remembered to tell her the waitress had already wrote down chicken on my behalf), and then when the food came my dish was swapped with a colleague's who ordered the same noodles, but different meat.
If I had a craving for noodles that I don't have the time or effort to satisfy elsewhere in NYC, this would do.
AS MUCH AS I WANT TO TAKE AWAY 1 STAR FOR THE DIRTY SODA CAN… I WONT. Because I just wiped it off, although it shows how NOT ON POINT the waiter is.. she should've noticed and washed the dirt off the opening before bringing it over. (Ginger ale is not so popular so it sat long and acquired dust, my gf's Coke was clean).
ONTO THE REVIEW!
I ordered Pineapple fried rice : $8.50 + Soda $1.50 = $10.00 WOW!
The food was BOMB.COM
It's flavors were ON POINT, the pineapples were sweeeeet, I would guess that they're canned because of the cuts but I'm not complaining.
My view was amazing, and not cluttered with people inside or out on the street. On a Friday evening @6pm. Also, the weather was nice and cool. So these factors definitely helped the 5 star earning.
Great lunch specials until 3:30pm M-F
Food is freshly cooked and you can watch while they make it if seated at bar.
Negative: place is very small. Mainly bar seating and three tables.
CASH ONLY
What I had was okay: it was just HUGE & too much for this skinny girl's tiny little stomach. Small restaurant but staff was attentive and informative. If this is more your thing than mine, you should definitely check it out sometime since it is apparently renowned in Manhattan.
*Happy hour menu is FIRE, so cheap*
Seriously $3 happy hour deals. Dumplings, crab Rangoon, beer.
It's a small joint. Sit at the counter to watch the food be made right in front of you.
I ordered the pad Thai. Tasty and a great portion. The dumplings had a good crunchy outside.
Had to laugh because every cook behind the counter was wearing a NYC ball cap.
CASH ONLY.
After a day of walking around with my bestie, we stumbled upon this place, and I'm glad we did. The food heres amazing. I am definitely coming back soon.
Decent lunch special for under $9. Each order comes with 1 taro roll and 1 other fried roll. I ordered the shrimp wonton noodle soup. It was just average for me. There were only 5 or 6 small wontons and a large amount of noodles which were cooked properly. The broth was flavorful. I didn't leave completely satisfied. It felt too Americanized for my taste. Although the lunch deal is pretty good so I would give it another shot. It beats the noodle soups at the deli.
Unpretentious little place at the busy end of Carmine Street, I liked it.
No frills, no fuss, just good food at an exceptionally reasonable price for the area.
My cod, with lemongrass, miso in a black been sauce was really tasty and substantial.
I can see this becoming a regular place, always looks busy.
Thumbs up.
