Found them at the New Amsterdam Market – I tried a loaf of their specialty Finnish style rye bread. It was "different" – not to my personal taste. Good flavor but very dense. Not expensive. Nice people.
So bummed out right now. I ordered online one month ago and my shipment was cancelled due to the mixer breaking down. Apparently a few months back they also had problems with some of the rye being bad. What bugs me is that:
I really wanted a taste of home, being a Finnish-American and not getting a shipment.
That e-mails sent to Nordic Breads were never answered, even though I had told them to ship on the quoted alternate schedule when they expected to be baking again after the delay.
Finally after three unanswered emails I went through PayPal to ask the owner for a refund, which I got.
I really wish their communication/customer service were better. This experience has made me doubt that I will attempt to order from them in the future. My loss since I want the bread, but I hope they take to heart my pleas for dealing with the customer better.
