  1. Delicious sandwiches, 10 bucks each which isn't bad at all for how high quality the produce is.

Had the "Lax rulle," normally with Smoked Norwegian salmon, red cabbage slaw, and horseradish creme. However, I substituted smoked tuna for the salmon/lox. He said why not so it was allowed (the tuna is less money so why not anyway.) He had personally not tried the sandwich before with that fish but it was oh so delicious. Tuna was excellent .A good amount of fish, nice bite from the cabbage. The cream wasn't too horseradishy but I guess it is actually good here as it allows you to taste the fish fully. As per their other sandwiches, it came with some lemon.

Nice guy as well. Hope this place thrives.

  2. The sandwiches are really good, but the bread is really hard. We all had a sore jaw/ scratched up the roof of our mouth after eating here. But we'd do it again.

  3. It's quite depressing to see that Essex Street Market lacks the foot traffic necessary for places like Nordic Preserve to thrive as much as it should. If this joint was located elsewhere there'd be a line to the door daily. Their smoked salmon sandwich prepared with cabbage slaw and homemade horseradish cream on a fresh and crispy baguette is a delicious steal at $10.00. The meal was prepped delicately including the on-order whipping of the horseradish cream. I wish this place much success and will continue to patronize for my smoked salmon needs on the Lower East (yes just as good and far more affordable than R&D).

  4. Such a wonderful hidden gem! Located inside the Essex Street Market, this place offers some delicious Nordic sandwiches. Their smoked salmon was very smoky and their baguettes very crunchy. Even though the market itself wasn't very busy, there was a small line at this place, which is always a good sign. There was only one person working, but everyone was very patient waiting for their yummy lunches.
