  1. I love Italian cookies! And here in New Haven I can find these fabulous cookies at the local supermarket. I can not say enough about them. Buttery, delicate and delicious. Growing up in NYC we are so spoiled. We have the best bagels, the best delis, the best pizza and of course Nuccio's. So glad the cookies have made it this far north. Woo hoo!!

  2. Crispy lobster tail that's not too sweet! For only $3.50 Pretty for me 🙂 went in after snowstorm Jonas after being trapped in for 2 days and they were opened until 5pm that day.

I would definitely recommend if you're in the area! I'm interested to try the other Italian baked goodies next time around.

  3. This place deserves a re-review.  I've been going to Joe's of Avenue U with the girl for awhile now, and Nuccio's is our go-to for dessert.  Compared to some other old school Italian bakeries, this place doesn't look like much at a glance, and the items towards the front of the store look pretty generic.  Walk towards the back and you'll see all the old staples though.  Every time the service is very friendly and accommodating.  Did I mention that it's dirt cheap?  I don't think I've paid more than $10 here for dessert for 2 ever, and it's usually around just $5.

Everything I've had has been great.  Their lobster tail is up there with the best I've had.  I am typically turned off by lobster tails with their use of whipped cream, but Nuccio's cream is luscious.  The rum baba, Italian cheesecake, rainbow cookies, cannoli, and other things I've tried are also great.  You literally cannot go wrong.  While they mainly are a pastry shop, they make bread as well which I am looking forward to trying.

I am planning on getting something more ambitious from Nuccio's and if all goes well, I will bump this rating up.  This is why Brooklyn wipes the floor with other Italian bakeries: fresh, consistently great Italian classics.

  4. Boyfriend and I decided to walk here for a little dessert after dinner. This place has good reviews so we gave it a shot.

Boyfriend got cheesecake and I got lobster tail. Cheesecake wasn't very sweet which can work for some but I would like it to be sweeter. Cream in the lobster tail was AMAZING, quite sweet but I liked it. However, I wished the pastry itself was softer, it still was flaky and delicious, but hard.

Girl behind the counter was very foreign but super friendly! We need to check this place out more often to taste what else is great at this bakery.

  5. This place has been around forever and they consistently provide customers with great baked goods. I recently picked up an oreo cheesecake from here for a friends BDAY and the entire cake disappeared in about 15 mins lol.

They also have great breads , cakes, cookies and pies all baked on premises.  How can i forget to mention the great cookies and donuts!! I tried a chocolate horn which was perfectly balanced with chocolate and flaky dough , a Nutella roll and macaroons and they were ALLLL delicious.  Its almost like you can taste the love they were baked with !! Lol

Very friendly and helpful staff , great prices and variety of baked goods = perfect bakery for all your baked needs !! Next time i have to try the rainbow cookies and tiramasu.

PS . Cash only no cards accepted!!  Ok maybe its #FATKIDISSUES but i love this bakery !

  6. I love this bakery. I usually come sometimes in the morning to get a bagel toasted with cream cheese. They are so fresh and good compared to the other stores bagels in the area. Also you must try a Nutella croissant. They are AMAZING!! I've had pastries from here a couple of times and they taste so fresh and good. I also have had a birthday cake from here and it was really good too.

  7. Got a yelp deal so purchased a nice strawberry shortcake which was all cream and little cake. Also got a slice of strawberry cheesecake which completely tasted old as in not fresh. Good thing I didn't spend much $ cause I won't be returning.

  8. This is one of several Italian bakeries in the area…i come here for the fresh Italian bread which has fresh loaves everyday at 12 (in addition to fresh bread in the morning) and the apple turnover.  The apple turnover is delicious, it has a decent amount of apples inside and is not too sweet.  The italian cookies are not bad.  Not too far away is the famous Spumoni gardens.
