  1. Very excited for this 5 spice glazed pork, very nice people, they definitely take pride in crafting these sandwiches and that's more than enough for me to come back!

5 Spiced Glazed Pork ($9.25) – The texture of the pork is masterful, melts in your mouth, very tasty. The bread also, was phenomenal. Perfectly crispy, buttered and so soft on the inside. The bread added a great chew. Don't get me wrong. It's a very tasty sandwich, but I have a problem with the flavor profile. The Asian pear sometimes overtakes the flavor of the whole bite, and since the glaze is also sweet, the entire sandwich "reads" very sweet. I wanted a bit more savoriness and variation. Even the pickled carrots,  greens and sliced cucumber were not enough (I thought) to balance the sweetness. They also need to add more spicy mayo (I'll ask for more next time). I think a better option would be to make the glaze spicy providing a better contrast with the sweet asian pear. The pre-packed Sriracha are nice, but the sweet note of the Sriracha further adds to the already sweet profile of the sandwich. Portion-wise, it is very small in person but the pork belly is DECEPTIVELY FILLING. At $9.25, I thought this was slightly overpriced, but still very delicious!

Blood Orange Lemonade – I love anything citrus. Tasted remarkably similar to grapefruit juice, except slightly sweeter and very lemony. Very sweet though

Skirt Steak ($11.75) – Terrible. The sandwiches are all the same. Carrots bread cucumber and chipotle mayo are on every sandwich so this tasted very similar. The steak was chewy and fatty, not tender at all. Some decent flavor but again it had this sweet glaze reminiscent of the pork. Without the sriracha, I wouldn't have finished it. Wayyy overpriced for what you get. The bread, as usual, was amazing.

Lemon Gingerade – I wanted more ginger. Tastes like lemonade. This is for people who aren't crazy about ginger because you can barely taste it. Also, way too much sugar.

  2. I was a bit taken back at the prices since this place is listed as cheap – I guess it's cheap for 42nd Street. I had the pork rice bowl which was delicious, but I kinda wish I had more to eat. So I guess if my only complaint is that there wasn't more then that's actually a good review.

P.S. There is never seating space during lunch. So good luck!

  3. The lemongrass short rib bowl is delicious. The meat was tender and juicy and the rice was mixed with veggies and herbs. But I think they can give you a little more for the amount that you pay ($11.50)… I guess it's typical of an Asian fusion shop in midtown Manhattan, but I think it's still a bit overpriced.

No seating in here but Bryant park is a five min walk away if you want to take your lunch to go!

  4. Num Pang is a popular lunch destination in the area. The sandwiches are pretty good and there are a decent variety of protein options. The bread is delicious and prices are reasonable. Lines will form, but they dwindle rather quickly.

  5. I ordered a tofu banh mi with a Cambodian slaw.  The banh mi was really good as it was made on quinoa bread and the slaw was decent as well.

    So why the 3 stars?

    A) I understand New York is really expensive but they could have added some bar stools.

    B) I think the banh mi was $8 which is quite expensive for this type of sandwich.

Was it an experience? Yes. Am I dying to go back? Not really.

  6. The ingredients here are as fresh as they get for sandwiches.  I love the brisket sandwich which comes with pickled vegetables.  The catfish is pretty on point as well.  Corn on the cob is delish minus all the saucy stuff.

  7. I had the hoisin meatball sandwich from here. I was worried that it would be spicy because they use a chili mayo, but it was very mild and gave a nice kick to the sandwich without killing my taste buds. It was a nice fusion between Asian flavors and an Italian meatball sub. It tasted like a bahn mi but it has meatballs in it! Meatballs were nice and moist and served on a perfectly baked baguette with a crunchy outside but soft inside. I can't wait to try the other items on the menu.

  8. I was looking for a quick bite before going to a show, and this place totally hit the spot! Thank you, Yelpers!

I had to get the 5-spice glazed pork belly and the blood orange lemonade that everyone is raving about on here, and was so glad I did.  The sandwich was the great balance of savory with a touch of sweet, with great bread and a healthy portion of veggies.  The blood orange lemonade was great, but needed a little dilution because it was pretty potent.

I had to take a star off for the price relative to the portion size (I wanted more sandwich!), but otherwise, a great quick late lunch/early dinner treat that was easy to scarf down and enjoy.
