O’Flanagan’s

“I LOVE performing with Marty and the band is simply professional, talented and great people.”

“The bar is spacious with plenty of seating, they also had a few large screen TV's hanging over the bar.”

“One of many people whose life is dictated by the cold hard charts of the good doctors of nearby Sloan-Kettering, I endure a trip to New York with a heavy dread of things that might yet come.”

  1. Stopped by for a beer and a snack to watch some football. Service was ok, the nachos were so-so, and the atmosphere and TVs left something to be desired.

There are better Irish pubs. Let's leave it at that.

  2. A friend of mine picked this spot, the after party of a going away party if you will. Her suggestion was met with groans and sighs. Little did I know those responses would foretell my feelings about this spot.

Good drinks. Overpriced wings. The waitress lost my card for a few minutes.  Needless to say I was not impressed at all. I wouldn't hurt myself to come back here by any means. There are better places in the area with better tasting wings & song selections.

  3. I love pubs/dive bars.. I can't stand this place. It smells gross like mildew or stale old beer. Depending on when you go the bartenders are rude. Once was sitting at the bar and a giant roach (one of those enormous waterbugs) ran across the bar in front of me.. Eww! The regular crowd is something to be desired.. Weekends draw tons of bridge and tunnel folk and god awful cover bands.. The are way better pubs to spend your money in this area. My bf drags me into this place for a beer when we order Chinese from the takeout next-door and it's a torturous wait (20-30 min) for our food to be done.

  4. Great atmosphere.  The wait staff are friendly and the drinks are of a fair size and price.  We had a good time and I'd go back

  5. I love the red color of the outside. When you go inside, you can go through the door on the left for the restaurant seated portion or to the right for the bar area. I can see this being a decent place to watch games.

We came for a work happy hour thing and had a good time. We got one of the larger tables and had a very nice time. The wait staff came cleared our glasses with precise regularity. It was nice.

I thought it did lack a little bit of the ambience probably because it was too bright and sparsely decorated, but hey, I think this completely a personal preference thing.

The fries, both regular and waffle, were decent. The nachos could be been better. The beef was not the highest quality. The onion rings were over fried unfortunately.

  6. Found this local dive-ish bar on 1st ave when walking around one day. They have a pool table in the back room and the drinks are fairly cheap. I love how big the place is, come football season there will be lots of room and great ambiance!
It's a no frills Irish bar, like most in NYC, but the bartender is not only very friendly, but a Patriots fan!
Great place to go grab a quick drink when you live in the neighborhood. Will definitely update this review come football regular season!

  7. Went here for live karaoke on Thursday, had a fun time.  There was also a fundraiser there that night so it was busier than usual, only got to do one song.  My date and I ordered beers and bacon cheeseburgers.  My date's beer was flat and she had to order another one.  The bartender replaced it quickly and for free so no harm done, hey it happens it's not a perfect world.
The burger was decent, seasoned well, good portion size, and medium rare.  As a professional cook, I can tell it didn't rest long because it actually carry-over cooked on the plate and by the time I was done the burger became medium-well.  I ended up not finishing the whole thing, but I was kinda full before I started eating anyway.  If I was hungry enough to finish the burger, it was a bit sad and disappointing to get to the end with it being medium-well.  I ordered the coleslaw instead of fries which was a good choice.
On this particular night, given the fundraiser and it was Rangers v. NY Islanders end of season playing for home ice advantage in the playoffs, it was a bit nosier than I would have liked but it added to the fun experience.
Karaoke was fun, it was kinda hard to hear our name being called so make sure you pay attention!  And put your name in early if you want to go twice.  It is a good place to relax, dance if you want (there's somewhat space for a dance floor), or just chill at the bar and drink.
I had a good time and will probably go again for the live karaoke!  Other than that, not too sure I would go out of my way to visit.  It is pretty much a standard Irish pub, which is always a welcome staple in the neighborhood.

  8. O'Flanagan's is a decent pub/borderline dive bar, which is perfectly OK by me, seeing as it's practically under my apartment.

This is where we go when we're not up for venturing too far to watch a game or get some grub. Good burgers/fries, decent wings. I can't comment to any of the other food, because this is the only thing we order here. The bartenders are cool. The wait staff is super friendly. There's live music on the weekends that seems to draw an older crowd.

All in all, O'Flanagan's doesn't suck.
