I live down the block from this spot and everytime I walk by its packed. The music, the lightening, and the decor is so inviting. The carnita burrito was average, not spectacular but average, the meat was tender, and the guacamole was extra. The burritos were about $8.00 a piece, but the Hibiscus Tea was awesome, thick, homemade, and robust.
The salsa was average no bells and whistles actually I found it rather thin.
The atmosphere and great customer service was a cut above for a neighborhood spot and that is the reason I will return, maybe for an update.
This is the second Oaxaca location that I've lived near by, which means it's an easy takeout option. The tacos are well priced and filling, and the quesadillas are incredible. The only issue I face is with the service–while everyone behind the counter is friendly, it feels delivery orders take priority and customers are left waiting at the counter for someone to help them. That aside, the restaurant is always clean and food is ready fairly quickly. A good option to have near by.
I've had mixed experiences with this Oaxaca. Some good food here, some total carelessness there–it's kind of luck of the draw. Dig the cactus tacos and potato burrito, but not a fan of the black beans or the salsa. Frankly their food just doesn't hold a candle to Tepache a couple blocks away, in either flavor or value.
