I'm glad that they now take reservations, unlike several Westfield restaurants.
They draw a significant number of Cuban and Latino customers–their Elizabeth branch is well regarded.
The skirt steak and paella are very good choices, The garlic shrimp is good, but a little too salty. Among the sides, the salad and sweet plantains are best. Empanadas, yucca sticks and plantain chips are the best appetizers–skip the calamari.
Their service is much improved from when they began. They are still byo and reasonably priced for good portions–4 empanadas; skirt steak and garlic shrimp is $50 including tax.
Lunch sandwiches are under $10.
Service is now excellent and the atmosphere is nice.
Cubanu in Rahway is somewhat better, but not byo, and Lidia's in Cranford is not quite as good or inexpensive.
