  1. Once you taste the spinach pie at Omonia you can never live without it again.  It becomes a permanent part of your memory bank.  The taste & smell comes back at the most inopportune times;  times when you know the spinach pie isn't anywhere near.

The pie comes with a large amazing salad that is served on the plate, rather than in a salad bowl.  This serving choice appears to add to the delectable taste.  The ingredients are amazingly fresh.  The dressing is just the right touch.  It's enough to add flavor but not too much to overpower the ingredients.

The spinach pie & salad are a perfect comfort food after a long day or hectic drive.  They are my meal of choice when it's late, I'm really hungry, and have been on the road for a greater part of the day.

Cocktails are not their forte.  The vodka martini had an odd taste, even when sent back for correction.  My son ordered a Black Russian & had to explain to the server what it was.

There are two paths to enter.  One is directly into the restaurant area.  The other is past the most amazing display case filled with scrumptious looking pastries & desserts.  If one is on a diet they must walk quickly past, keeping their eyes straight ahead.  Greek desserts must surely have been a temptation even to the ancient gods.

If not for the cocktail fiasco this review would have been a 5.  I'm certain that can be remedied.

  2. Being that I was in the neighborhood and was craving for dessert, ole trusty Yelp App directed me to this lovely cafe. There are two sides of the cafe. One side was more of a bakery where you can pick out your pastries or cake to go and the other was more of a restaurant. As soon as you enter upon the restaurant side, the lit up colorful bar will definitely catch your eye. You will be directed to your seat, which is a step up on a higher flooring, by a pleasant waitress.

The menu is huge and not only desserts/pastries, but a whole selection from breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner food options to a list of alcoholic beverages.
Since I was only here for dessert, I flipped through numerous pages to finally get to the pastries section. Because I love cheese cake, my instincts told me to go for the Baklava Cheesecake. The Baklava Cheesecake was basically the Baklava with Cheesecake in between. The Baklava is a gala pastry prepared with a mixture of nuts, spices, syrup baked in phyllo. This was so indulgent but a bit heavy due to the cheese cake. My co worker that accompanied me ordered the Bougatsa which was a warm subtly sweet custard filled puff phyllo pastry sprinkled with powdered sugar. This was a great choice for the cold weather and goes well with some coffee.

So yeah two thumbs up for dessert but two thumbs down for the Specialty Coffees. This was absolutely a disappointment. I ordered the Cafe Frangelico which was Hazelnut liqueur with hot coffee topped with whipped cream. My co-worker ordered the Bailey's cafe which was just Bailey's liqueur with hot coffee topped with whipped cream. Both our drinks were $7.95 each but it tasted like regular hot coffee with whipped cream on top. For mine there wasn't even a hint of Hazelnut rather yet liqueur. For the Bailey's it was a a small accent of it but barely there. What's upsetting is the price for this. I could have gotten a pretty high quality cup of coffee elsewhere for this price.

Overall, I would like to come back for Brunch and dessert but not for Specialty Coffee.

  3. Such. A. Large. Menu. I've never been here for dinner, but I've come here for dessert a few times and luckily, Omonia Cafe does INCREDIBLE dessert. I love their selection of specialty coffees, my favorite is Dark Angel Cafe. Chocolate ice cream, espresso, and whip cream, so good and something different. The Vinese Cafe is also a favorite, love the blend of hot chocolate and espresso. There are SO many desserts offered here, it's honestly dizzying. I've never had a bad dessert here, it's obvious that everything is home made and fresh. The Greek specialty pastries are amazing. In the evening, this is an excellent date night spot because of the romantic, candle lit, and beautiful decor of the inside. Lots of colorful lights and an incredibly gorgeous bar, very interesting looking place! The outside seats are just as cute and offer views of the street and lights in the trees. During the day it is a wonderful spot to come with friends or your mother when she complains that she doesn't get to see you enough. Really not sure why all of the low reviews! This place is quality!

  4. I love the desserts here such a wide range from cookies to pastries to cupcakes to cakes. You have a choice of jumbo, regular, or mini cupcakes. The prices are reasonable. I love that the mini cupcakes are 1.25 which makes it easy to get a dozen and I have to say the red velvet is their best dessert. They have red velvet cupcakes , cake slices, mini cakes, regular 7" cake, and red velvet cheesecake! So yummy!
Also, it's a great place to just come in to grab a quick cake for a dinner party never a wait and always lots of options as I just mentioned. I also love the fact that the servers are so nice and accommodating! Open late for anyone with late night cravings!

  5. Whenever I'm in the area I always stop by for a slice of baklava cheesecake! It happens to be one of my all time favorite desserts and now that I've introduced it to my boyfriend it's his new fave also. I've tried many different pastries and cakes over the years but things just seemed too dry or just stale. The baklava cheesecake has always been a hit and I've never had an issue with it being dry considered it's soaked in this luscious honey syrup. The Nutella macaroons are also pretty damn good; but if you go later at night they are usually sold out.

  6. We only went here for coffee and dessert after having dinner and a movie. It was pretty good. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and had a great sense of humor.

We got two Greek desserts. I can't remember the names. One was a walnut cake with syrup and ice cream on the side and the other was a puff pastry with a custard on the inside. Both were good. The walnut one was very sweet and the puff pastry one was not too sweet. We also got a chocolate rectangular pastry that had chocolate sponge cake with chocolate mouse and dark chocolate ganache on top. That one was very sweet, and I didn't like that the layer of sponge cake was too soggy.

My mocha cafe was excellent and could have had that as a dessert.

This place also serves typical desserts, like cheesecake and several other layer cakes. They also have italian pastries and cookies. Btw, they also have a full menu of food and drinks

  7. Believe it or not, Omonia Next Door is a bakery that is actually open late! It is attached to Omonia Cafe, and seems to supply the restaurant with their baked goods. I came here with my family after a great dinner out. There were so many options! I eventually went with the brownie cheesecake. I was not disappointed. I shared the pastry with my dad, who also liked it.
The general consensus was that everything we got from there was plenty good, but definitely not 'life-changing.' No one had complaints, but we seemed to agree that none of us were surprised by the quality.
Of course I'll be back. The bakery is close to my home and the pricing is fair, and the hours are good.

  8. I've been coming to Omonia for years and years and years!!! Its definitely a nice spot for coffee and desserts or even drinks. The staff is very nice and attentive. The ambiance is nice and relaxing. A great place to chat and catch up. The cappuccino is great and the desserts even better. My last time here, we ordered drinks late night. I ordered a jack and coca cola and my friend ordered sambucca. It was nicely done. The drinks were strong. We stayed for another round. It was a nice evening. There is no denying that I will be at Omonia Cafe again.
