  1. I was in the area and needed a last minute cake. At first, I was really aiming to check out Betty Bakery, but sadly, I found out they were closed on Mondays so I Yelped and found One girl Cookies instead. Quite roomy if you're planning to stay for a cup of joe. Love the white and teal patterned interior, cute and simple.

I came for a few cupcakes, not too much of a selection, just vanilla and chocolate with a couple different colored frosting. The frosting spikes are pretty cool. Their cakes were moist, the frosting was creamy and weren't too sweet.

The cookies all looked very cute but on the tiny side for the size, perfect for the kiddos. Will be back to grab me a bag of those to share.

  2. Very charming and spacious place in a cute section of Brooklyn.  Good place to relax.  I didn't have a bad experience with the staff here — the woman behind the counter was very friendly.

The iced coffee is made with coffee ice cubes (smart.)  The hot chocolate is made with a touch of heaven.

The tea cookies have to be bought in groups of 4 — they were good, too.  Yes, they are small in size but honestly it gave me enough to satisfy my sweet tooth without feeling guilty about it.  Would definitely come back.

  3. Ehhh.. My husband bought some of these tea cookies once and I didn't remember how they tasted and since I was in the area I decided to stop by again. It wasn't busy at all that day but there was one other couple being helped so I waited my turn. When she were done she asked who's next? Well someone else had come in after me and had started ordering. The server, didn't care that I was first, maybe she wasn't paying attention. Not great but I didn't complain b/c I hate making a stink over something trivial. Anyway I ended up being helped by someone else. I got a few tea cookies and a whoopie pie. The cookies were just OK but when considering the cost, along with the size of  the cookies, it's just not worth it. I didn't measure but I don't think they're any bigger than an inch in diameter and sold for 4/$3 or 5 or more for 65 cents each. The whoopie pie was very sweet and just didn't do it for me. I threw it out after a bite. While the place is cute, and has seating, I just don't think I would return as what I tried didn't give me much hope that their cakes/cupcakes were any better.

  4. Super adorable spot! It's off the main street, kind of tucked away, and at first glance you would kind of miss it if you didn't look far in enough. The decor is super quaint, a bright, uplifting turqoise or teal storefront, a small alcove (right word?) that's open air, but also leads to into the store, where there are about 4-5 tables set up for people to sit and enjoy their snacks/coffee. I saw several people on their laptops, so it definitely encourages leisure within a bright and airy setting as opposed to the dim cozy vibe of Starbucks– perfect for spring and Fall months. In addition to the separate seating outside, you can sit inside —  a row of high chairs right by the workers, so you can see the hustle and bustle up close.

It's small inside, but because they space things out so well, it seems as if there is plenty of room to move around. cozy, but not cluttered. A display case houses their small and adorable cookies. Near the counter where you order, the cupcakes and whoopie pies are on a cupcake stand/plates respectively . Not a large quantity, so maybe they make a limited amount or its not their top sellers. They have chocolate/chocolate butter cream, chocolate/vanilla buttercream (in white, purple, blue icing colors), red velvet cupcakes, vanilla/chocolate buttercream, vanilla/vanilla. Some have sprinkles, some don't. All have the unique spikey frosting design.

***One thing that's kind of a turn off is that the cupcakes aren't entirely enclosed from the people ordering or waiting on line. It's like a corner piece of glass, with one side entirely open so the workers can grab them. However, while waiting on line, the guy behind me sneezed and didn't really cover his mouth that well. It made me cringe thinking of the potential germs that could land on the desserts. It would be better if ALL the desserts — not just the cookies — were covered up.

You order in front, then move further in to pay (near the Espresso machines). In that corner there is a counter of small cups and a water carafe. It was still pretty warm for early/mid Oct. and after walking all around this was much appreciated!

Chalkboards on the left wall have the menu/items listed, as well as pricing. A bench underneath. I saw some kids sitting there as their dad waited on line. Kinda nice, so the kids aren't running around, knocking things or people over. And it also gives tired people a chance to rest. This place certainly encourages you to linger! If I had more time, I would have stayed and gotten a drink! Shelves throughout the store that have baking books, t-shirts, other goodies you can peruse and purchase.

Workers are young and friendly. No attitudes here!

  5. Quaint and cozy space. Good cupcakes. Good place to relax inside and recharge (if you can find an outlet). Their coffee though affordable $1.75 is disappointing. Single unisex bathroom line gets long when it's crowded.

  6. Good lemon bar and other cookies.  I guess I need to return!

  7. Why five stars:

    1) Lemon scone, with jam & butter. Delicious, $3.

    2) Suuuuper cheap coffee, one size to stay, $1.75.

    3) Lots of space to work & good wifi & access to outlets.

    4) Nice music, nice people, nice decor.

    5) Coffee refill, $.75. YOU READ THAT RIGHT, $.75. What in the world costs 75 cents these days?! NOTHING, PEOPLE!

  8. I've come here many times and I just love this little bakery. They have absolutely delicious cookies. There are many kinds and I highly recommend trying all of them. They have these little cookies that are just adorable and so tasty. They also have these amazing whoopie pies, which they are pretty well known for. They always have the standard chocolate, but the also do seasonal flavors like pumpkin or gingerbread. SO good! The cake for my bridal shower was also from here and it was fantastic! Really super delicious red velvet cake done perfectly. They also make great coffees and breakfast pastries. They serve a yogurt parfait at breakfast as well. The prices are pretty good, especially for the wonderful quality of treats you get! My only gripe is that they don't have unsweetened almond milk.
