I was in the mood for some good Thai & while searching the neighborhood, the name of this place caught my eye. It reminded me of Daft Punk's song, "One More Time."
For starters, I ordered the chicken tom yum soup. What I love about this soup is the combination of chili-spice & lime in the broth. It also had lemongrass & mushrooms.
For the main course, I had the spicy drunken noodle, which comes in a cool ceramic pot. It had basil, red peppers, garlic, onion & cherry tomatoes. They also added some sauce, which had a slightly sweet taste that balanced out a bit of the spice.
I am a fan of taro & shared the taro custard dessert. If I wasn't so full from dinner, I would have ate it all. It has coconut milk & sugar.
The service was good but not memorable. We received our dishes at a reasonable time.
They offer lunch specials & happy hour deals, so check this place out when your in the area.
One waitress serving five tables and she's courteous, fast, even goes out of her way to go to the basement just to get a non refrigerated can of ginger ale for you.
My friends and I ordered the:
Mixed Vegetables with Mock Duck
Thai Fried Rice with Beef
Pad Thai with Chicken
Chicken Skewers with Satay Sauce
Chicken Wings
For the most part the food was very tasty but the Chicken Wings were a bit too sour for my taste. The Pad Thai though a classic horribly cooked. Whereas it should have been primarily stir fried, this was probably boiled and everything was stuck together like mush.
Everything else was perfect the Fried Rice had Chinese broccoli chunks, Chicken Skewers satisfactorily grilled with perfect Satay Sauce and Mock Duck is the same excellent product you get at Mei Wah vegetarian supermarket. The restaurant offers a hot sauce though it's on the sour side.
Overall very pleased and aside from the two setbacks this is truly the best Thai experience I've had in New York.
My coworkers and I decided to try out this Thai spot on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. They have pretty good lunch specials and in particular I really like their pad see ew and dumplings.
The place was ran by one waitress who was also the hostess. She was very nice and friendly. She messed up on our orders and quickly apologized. Our two friends seem to enjoy the Pineapple fried rice. The Drunken noodles was tasty and not too spicy. The Skyfall curry was too spicy for my taste. Although I do like pad thai but I had egg shells in the eggs and flavor was a tad sweet for me. Great portions though!
The food is still 4 stars but the service is 2, hence the rating.
I've ordered from here a ton but this was my first time actually eating in the restaurant. On an unseasonably warm March Saturday night the place was deadly quiet and half empty, which wasn't a good sign. There was only one waitress working and she was painfully slow. But she tried to walk away from our table before I had completed my order when another table called her over.. Not cool, especially when it's not busy.
I mentioned I was allergic to peanuts so not put any on my calamari, and that was peanut free. But me and my friend were splitting all our appetizers (for some reason they were brought out one at a time) and she put his fried taro between the two of us and gave us each a plate. She didn't mention the fried taro was full of peanuts, and the menu didn't mention it either. I found out after biting into it 🙁 I was fine, it's not really a big deal (for me). She did make a point of telling me to be careful of the peanut sauce that came with the chicken satay, so I think she just didn't know the taro had peanuts.
Our waters didn't come until we were halfway done with our appetizers, and it took about 15 minutes for us to get the thai ice teas were ordered. The whole meal took an hour and a half to get through.
Since she walked away during the last part of my order, she also got confused and made my friends dish extra spicy and left mine just normal spicy. Both of our dishes were way too sweet, which is unusual for them. I honestly don't think I'll be coming here to eat in house again, I'll just stick to takeout.
Suprisingly, I have never been to the restaurant myself, we've used their delivery service numerous times whenever we decided to stay in, delivery service is quick! pad thai and drunken noodles were very consistent, noodles are soft and flavorful, love their soups and fried chive dumplings! I'd definitely swing by the restaurant if i'm in the area! at least that's what i've been telling myself.
I'm a big fan of their lunch special. The place is small and quaint, smells of cleaning fluid, and has a nice thai waitress.
The lunch special you get to choose between all the typical famous thai dishes like pad thai, drunken noodles (which I always get), pad sew ew. in chicken, tofu, veg or beef/shrimp/mock duck for $1 extra. The drunken noodles is always a little bit to salty but I guess it's the sauce they use.
You also get an appetizer with your lunch special. I always get their tom yum soup because it's so tasty! I love tamarind and it's very pungent.
Their thai tea here is also very tasty. Not too sweet, just the way I like it!
I was hoping this would be my new go to thai place, but sadly they missed the mark on this one. I ordered seamless from this restaurant and while they delivered the food quick and the prices were right, the food was just blah.
We had the drunken noodles and the pad thai and both were so flavorless and bland! It's as if they didn't use any salt or any sauces and just cooked with oil. The food is cheap, but for tasteless food, definitely not worth the calories.
Maybe I have to give this place a shot in person, but I'm going to hold off for a few months before I give this place another go.
