  1. ~$12 for lunch hibachi?! Sign me up!

This place has a sexy vibe even during the day. Mostly dim with nightlife lighting. Could be a TAD cleaner. I saw some random stains at the teppanyaki station.

The chefs do the usual, flipping food, onion volcano, but they also squirt "sake" into the diners' mouths until the recipient cries Uncle. It was definitely sake-like, but I'm not exactly trying to fill my stomach up with it.

The food is good, cooked very well, although they could use a lot less butter.

For the lunch price, this place is a no-brainer.

  2. I pass by this restaurant every time I go to Costco. Ever since they renovated and became a new restaurant, their parking lot was fairly full and I was curious to check it out.

We went for dinner and chose sushi and
Not hibachi for dinner. The restaurant has a cool vibe and my fiancé and I liked the bar and the decor a lot. We ordered white sangria for drinks and two appetizers: shrimp and veggie tempura and Treasure Island (raw fish, avocado, and spicy mayo). The tempura wasn't greasy which I liked a lot. Price was about average, but I wish it came with more. 3 shrimp seems on the skimpy side. The Treasure Island was delicious, but had a kick to it because it was drenched in spicy mayo.

For appetizers, my fiancé got the tonkatsu and I got chirashi. The tonkatsu is pricier compared to other Japanese restaurants but it was a generous serving. For my chirashi, the fish was fresh and I had no complaints.

Overall, it definitely is on the pricier side but the fish is fresh and my white sangria was awesome. It'd be great if they had happy hour specials for their appetizers.

  3. I would've given this place five stars as it's pretty rare to find a hibachi next to a Costco with such great sushi. However in the few months since we've discovered it the fish has declined in quality. According to their own employees, the reason is the owner has decided to buy the cheaper fish, as most of their customers don't notice the difference. Being a food snob, and a sushi connoisseur, I do. And it's a big drop. They went from amazing to average, overnight.

  4. I wanted to grab a quick bite after navigating through the Clifton Costco Tough Shopper 5K (available every Sat/Sun after 10 am). On the way out I always see this unassuming gray building and today I decided to give it a shot.

I was pleasantly surprised at the modern, lounge-like spacious environment inside the restaurant. The staff was very polite and accommodating. The lunch specials were more than fair in terms of pricing. I tried their sashimi lunch while my husband ordered the beef negimaki. No complaints in terms of what you get for the lunch pricing and everything was yummy.

The only reason they are 4 and not 5-stars are some little hiccups that indicate some inattentiveness:
    – My sashimi lunch came with just 8 instead of the 11 pieces on the menu, but they (very quickly) made it right with apologies.
    – One piece of my husband's negimaki still had plastic wrap around it.
    – When it came to the check, my credit card and receipt were delivered to the wrong table.
    – The same table who got my credit card by mistake also did not get a soup they ordered.

Basically, just little things here and there that are easily resolved with a bit more attention (especially since the restaurant was far from full) and would turn this place into an excellent, no hesitation dining choice.

With a diverse variety of Asian cuisine options, Ooka will have something that pleases everyone in your party.

  5. Came here on a Friday night and grabbed seats at the sushi bar. We ordered 4 different types of sushi and i LOVED them all.
The sangria was pretty good too. My friend got grey goose on the rocks and they were a little skimpy with that.
I definitely want to come back again!

  6. Really pleasant experience!

I've been coming to eat inside this building for at least 15 years. Those were all buffets of questionable quality though. Finally, there's something to appreciate here!

Enjoyed the sushi. I had the Golden Sun roll and it was very good.

They also have happy hour (5-7) with $5 signature cocktails (regular price up to $9) and beer and wine specials. It also includes deals on food with small sushi rolls for $3-$4 and similarly priced chicken satay. There were a couple of other discounted dishes – shumai, edamame and a few others. Love that.

Super friendly bartender. Quick service. Pleasant atmosphere. Would recommend!

  7. This place was banginnnn! Yes, I am not a professional reviewer so I can use such adjectives. Lol

Pros- fairly priced with a lot of food on your plate and the scorpion bowl was deeper than I expected. Service was excellent and the live chef show was entertaining. Visually, it is a nice place, with a nice ambiance – to be honest I would have never expected it coming from the Costco side of the room on the outside. But coming from the other side of the street, it looked really nice. The steak was cooked perfectly and so was the lobster tail and shrimp.

I have no cons, but I will be coming back for the sushi. I highly recommend this restaurant for hibachi because it is the standard for which all other hibachi spots in the region should be measured against.

  8. After leaving the movie theatre we decided to get dinner somewhere nearby. We decided on this restaurant because it was conveniently located less than 5 minutes away from the AMC movie theatre. The decor inside was beautiful! They have the hibachi side and the regular dining area. We arrived there 30 mins before they closed so the hibachi side was pretty much not available. They said we could sit in the dining area but they didn't want us to be rushed since it was close to closing. So we ended up ordering dinner to go. I ordered the Shrimp Hibachi (over $20). It was so good. Even my boyfriend asked for a 2nd bite and he never does that lol. The to go plate was also great. I loved how they had each item nicely separated. The lo mein was a little too oily for my taste but still was good. Overall, the food was good. The staff was also very friendly and the decor was beautiful. I wouldn't mind going back and dining in next time.
